Hi guys,
been trying to figure out a solution to the following problem. Maybe there is something I havent thought of yet.

I recently upgraded my system (replaced it, actually). The old one ran on a dual core intel with a radeon 4850. Obviously, no lag at full settings with forced AA etc. The new box has a Phenom II paired with a GeForce 560ti, running on Windows 7 64. What I have observed since switching is:
- Without switching of shadows, the game is barely playable.
- I get short (~1sec) freeze frames when opening menus as well as when transitioning between zones.

All drivers are up to date and the game itself is installed on a 6GB/s SSD drive, so there should be very little lag from that end, if any. The only other things that I changed between the two setups is the Wlan-stick (old one fried after crash) and the new one is 'only' a 150N, as compared to a 300N before. But I was under the impression that this would neither cause framing nor that 1.5mb/s would be too slow for Daoc Also, I don't get any lags as such (i.e. ping-related), so it is most likely something in the hardware and or/the game that causes these hickups. The system however seems fine, in general and players e.g. Crysis 2 at max settings, so this narrows it down to DAoC. But no clue what it could be and how to fix it.

Maybe try setting daoc affinity to one cpu. don't know if it will help but can't hurt to try.

You can try putting in your old video card and make sure its not that, but if other games work with no issues, then it may not be that. But then again, just try it to be sure. Computers can be wierd like that.

Also make sure you delete your game config for daoc, so that your new GPU and system is used for configing daoc. I noticed when i monkeyed with some hardware changes , and playing the game. I noticed that some settings didnt change with the hardware like it should had, and caused some strange lag. Went away as soon as i deleted the config files.

If that doesnt help, then im not sure what the heck could be causing it. Hope you can figure it out.

/threadnecro

Just thought I'd solve this riddle now - apparently it had to do with me running DOL from the C (system) partition. Left my DAoC folder on the C-drive (SSD) and re-installed DAoC portal on my second (traditional) hard drive - all lags are gone. Go figure...
