Game launching error, help!

Afternoon,
I've had this issue for the last several weeks. Here's a quick rundown. I came back to Uthgard after several months away. I updated the game client from Mythic which was probably not a good idea. When I try to launch the game a receive the following consistent error. <removed> Here's what I have tried to troubleshoot. Also I am still able to play on my laptop which hasn't been updated and is still running v1.103. Still having the same error: 1. Uninstalled/Reinstalled game client, updated Portal and classic mod. (win7-64) but worked fine before patching to v1.108. 2. Installed on a clean/different Win7 desktop. (v1.108), same error. Completely different hardware, video, etc. 3. Downloaded rollback for v1.107 to v1.104 in hopes it might fix the game.dll version problem. (No change) 4. There's a v1.104.rar file fix which basically overwrites game files in default location. (No change) 5. I've googled till I'm blind but no luck in an answer. Fortunately I can still play on the laptop but I'd prefer a "real" game box. Copy the *entire* folder from your laptop to the machine you are having trouble with, preferably to the desktop. Set DAOCPortal to use this client Try to log in. |

have you tried patch 1.08?
can you log in into live servers with free acc ? |

Here's the answer and I should have figured it out earlier. The issue was Zone Alarm, my anti-virus. I had assumed that first thing and had uninstalled it from my main machine but the issue was still there so I assumed that wasn't it. After some more digging online I found a few other similar issues mostly relating to some form of AV. I re-imaged my main machine and bam, no issues connecting. Silly AV.
