Small video showing the "Not in view" melee bug that is haunting all melee classes. The problem is occuring when facing/sticking an enemy while not looking at the target right before that. Combine a style fast enough with that action and you will get the not in view message even though u are actually facing the target.

When pressing the style just a split second slower, your style will land as it should.

This bug has occurred evr since the delay upon entering combat or using styles (not 100% sure) was removed and is quite a logical consequence. It has also become impossible to backup styles on the first swing because there is no delay to press the backup style in.

To be honest the delay should just be reinstated as it was before.

Uthgard is different when it comes to opening style, i like it better here as u dont have to hit ur style eons before the target actually comes in range.
But ofc if u use it like u did in the video u will get oov, its not a bugg just the way uthgard mechanics behave, adjust and learn to coop with it.

No, it's a bug that occurs since the delay got removed, period.

Will take a look at it. But the delay will stay removed as I removed it because it was not on live servers. At least not noticable like on Uthgard. Also its hard to imagine what an artificial delay can help in this case, you could also press the key 500ms later and have the same result.

There are two points which cause out of view:
a) Your target is not in a 120 degree arc in front of you
b) Client sends an InView flag which takes LOS into account and that flag signals OOV

The OOV check is completely disabled on Uthgard if you are in 64 units distance while the target is moving and 32 units when standing still. Live like are 32 units. The little extension to 64 for movement is an Uthgard feature but as it seems it does not help in this case.

I would really like to see a similar situation on live servers for comparison.

Btw I tested PA out of range as that was a similar point by davidoof and found out that live servers dont tell you when your style fails cause of out of range, Uthgard tells you out of range and fail message. The rest was live like.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

If all OOV checks are disabled how come u still get oov in combat then? Is it lagg that makes ur client to guess where u going when u move in combat and therefor the server believes u are more then 64 units away or what is it?

And i still dont see this as a bugg as u had same problems on live, game mechanics and lagg make the game like this and its the same for all. Inserting the delay again will not make this phenomen go away. First attack is easy to time right not get oov, its worse with those while ur in combat u shoudnt have and a fix for those would be nice.

It's basically the same way now, or well very similar. Just like hit/style vs target checks used to be 500 ms after pressing the style before the "fix", now the hit/style check is like 500 ms before pressing the style which causes the target not in view/target out of range bugs (you get not in range when you're on top of a person if you were out of range just a fraction of a moment ago, you will land an unstyled hit immediately but your style will not go off, same as the out of view error) and some extremely weird timings on positional stuns via strafing.

I'm sorry but that's just not true, you won't see out of view message for a style and land an unstyled hit instead at the very same moment on live. If you get an out of view message on live you won't land a hit at all because, guess what, your target is out of view. Inserting the delay back would be the perfect way to fix this situation but if 500 ms was too much it could, for example, simply be halved to 250 ms. Both problems easily solved.

Not at all, the problem is simple: lag causes your style to go off at the moment you're still not facing your target, but on your screen you actually are facing the target just when u pressed the style. Notice how I land my style if I face and wait about 500ms when pressing the style, that's why the problem is as I just described, nothing else.

If you reinstate the delay, of which the removal was the cause of this bug, it will be fixed, and I am 100% certain of that. The pieces of the puzzle couldn't be more obvious, really. There's no real need to try to fix it some other way because the risk of damaging other aspects is way higher than the chance to solely fix the problem.

There's no real need to try to fix it some other way because the risk of damaging other aspects is way higher than the chance to solely fix the problem.

This bug is indeed quite troublesome, poses a serious problem with ALL melee mechanics, and really should be removed to its previous state when ONLY some noob stealthers wined about not being able to time their pa's right.

There is also a bug where you will clearly hit a style which you should be able to pull off, and then do an unstyled attack anyway.

It happens when you get OOV, hit the style before you auto swing again, it just does an unstyled attack.

The on some occasions it will give you the animation for an unstyled attack, yet the style will fire. Sometimes It will look like I am doing an unstyled attack, but land stun styles so you've got unstyled attack animation landing stuns.

Super buggy.

Introducing a delay for styled attacks again is customization and not live like. Its the same as pressing the style key 500ms later. Thats what the delay was and how it was coded. It was there for different reasons.

You say that you get oov and land an unstyled hit. That is what indeed should not happen for oov. On the other side this could be the retrigger of the swing timer in the same second which causes the unstyled hit. I would like to diagnose that ingame with debug outputs enable so when someone wants to help he should /callgm me.

Im also interested in live logs/vids of the very same situation for comparison.
It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

I'm not going to be the guy livetesting, but how do you know the delay is not livelike?

Because I went on live and tested it? The style is executed in the moment you press the style button when not incombat yet.
