Yes, its broken.

Yes, it is beyond broken. All assassins and rangers are out of control on this server, but that's well known.

My warrior was perfed for 1250 damage once, 3/4ths of my life gone in one button press as a heavy tank. That's neither right, nor fun. Granted, that was with a good crit, but it is still something that shouldn't be possible with the server set up the way it is.

Assassins running around with Viper AND Vanish is absurd. You can either roll an assassin or play the game the rest of us play. Assassins were never meant to be able to kill everything they see whenever they want. In true classic an assassin would have to think long and hard about even attacking a tank with any hope to barely win. Now they'll attack a warrior and zerker together - and kill both.

There is no such thing as, you cant kill every class. Besides healers/support classes, having much higher difficulty. Any class can kill any class, its just there is difficulty. An assassin has the element of surprise (PA attack) and poisons to bring down there high con and damage stat. But yes even with a PA they should not kill a tank so easily. They will require some skills in re-poisoning, reacting to there evade reactionary's, and anything else to avoid there enemy's benefits. But if a class can PA, and one two for a kill, there maybe needs to be some look into the PA damage, if its not correct.

And Rangers have been OP or at least cried about in that way, with no proof of why, just the number of those who play one is reason in some peoples mind. But when old RA's come and everyone turns into a NS, it will no longer be OP ranger, and it will be OP Nightshade.

This thread is just about PA Dmg, any plans to fix it?

Rangers arent broken, they are supposed to have thier melee capped at 1/2 of thier level in OF

Hunters are supposed to be the melee archer not rangers
hunters were the only archer that could spec 50 in weapon

ON topic. Couldnt PA damage be tested on live still ? or has there been changes on live to make this not possible.

@ Katbird - Source ? Proof ? Just the normal claims that rangers are OP because of .... well nothing is ever really given to why. I died they are OP, that is what its about. Hunters and scouts can compete vs a ranger, but only if they play it correctly and if the hunters pet is working correctly. One big thing they both have to face is not being able to cut defenses down as effectively as duel wielding does. So they need to get around there defenses, which is possible, but never done and they wonder why they lose.

Regarding PA dmg, I have noticed that when I throw up thrust resists before being PAed, it doesn't seem to reduce the dmg in a proportional manner, no testing, just what I have noticed.

Very interesting, but not surprising.

Noir has flattened my Champion on single strike with his Dragonmight doing 1800 hp damage while I was moving and passing through him (no body collision you see). He used the (before fixed??) fast switch bug and strike again before the system auto target him, which usually takes less than a blink of an eye. (and I had no lag). Please note a Celt champ fully sced with red self s/c has only 1899hp at RR3.

Only last week, while I popped him by attacking clearly first with my ranger (hit him 2 times with both weapons). He did 1100 damage on my PD3 Ranger, first strike with the same weapon and on MP torso which was just repaired before I went in DF.

And these are just two incidents from the many I can encounter with various people, that just show how some things are pretty broken. On live (period from Spring 2002 all way to autumn 2006) no assassin could pick a tank and win and especially a shield spec one. 2v1 probably yes. But solo? No way no matter the RR difference.

Also give a rest about the rangers, because they don't benefit from stealth attack styles and have the same 'alpha strike' as most of the tanks around. I wish could do 200 damage with my ranger, not 1100, on a single strike with both weapons striking.

Whith the first RA release, assassnins even had IP as RA until it was cut, because it was very overpowered for assassins. But even with out IP, they stayed quite powerfull through capped evade by dodger.

No, he is quite correct. You're spreading misinformation. Shadowblades were strong when critblades were strong and sitting bonuses were intact. Nobody wanted to play a nightshade or infiltrator. Eventually they got buffed, sitting bonuses were removed, shadowblade damage on 2h was diminished and then came the two infamous left axe nerfs (which were sorely needed because Berserkers were 1 shotting everything not in plate/scale/chain). Infiltrators eventually became the better of the assassins at < RR6 due to dragonfang, but high realm rank nightshades were the best.

All things considered equal (buffs and whatnot) assassins still didn't (wisely) attack shield tanks or even lights if they had any sense, because they would lose (except the rr8+ nightshades against low rr mercs or [sometimes] warriors). "Assassins were never meant to kill everything they see." I'm paraphrasing a grab bag entry I recall. This actually didn't begin until ToA, MLs, lifetap weapons and whatnot. Which, in case you're not aware, is not classic and is what killed the game. Which, in turn, is why we play on Uthgard, where every class but assassins and rangers are stuck in classic.

A really good (re: Smart) assassin may try a tank, poison specifically for the fight and have all of his RAs up. The good ones actually won sometimes, too. That's fine. But that's not how it is on Uthgard. Trashy players with no sense at all can run up to whomever they see and kill them. And, well, if they get a bad roll just vanish away and go AFK for a few minutes. I don't know what changes have done to live servers, but in classic, all assassins never had access to Vanish, Viper and everything else. Viper was a NIGHTSHADE ONLY skill, whereas Vanish was an INFILTRATOR ONLY skill.

Classic assassins simply didn't attack anything but each other, archers, casters, and support - because they would die. Their skillsets, damage, armor and abilities just didn't/couldn't overcome the tools of the tank. That's why they moved in small groups of 2 or 3, and even 2 assassins would talk about it before attacking a heavy, as one of them would likely die, at least. Now the assassins spend most of their time rolling over each other and complaining in broad that people are leeching their solo RPs. Somehow they've turned into light tanks (Blademasters/Mercenaries/Berserkers) with evade 7, stealth, vanish, viper, and poisons. Uthgard has it wrong. I don't even know how the mentality that everything is "okay" with them (assassins on uthgard) even developed, but common sense says something is very wrong.

As I said earlier, my warrior ate a 1,200 damage perf (yes, I'm fully spellcrafted with capped resists and yes it was a huge crit). Classic assassins would be elated to perf a heavy for a 3rd of that. They didn't even hit casters that hard.
