Here is a brief description myself and several other U.S. players, all of whom play on the East Coast/Midwest region are having:

For the past 3 weeks while playing on uthgard, my connection (and others having similar problems) will redblock on the lagometer for 3-5 seconds every 10 -30 seconds. Essentially it renders the game unplayable. A case in point: The other day I was in Thidranki with my shaman, running around and healing. At one point I stopped to heal and thought I was healing, but the next thing I knew I was laying on the ground dead, completely unaware that I was even being hit.

I will constantly lag off /stick and find my group half a zone away. I know it's not my connection, or with the Uthgard gaming server. I ran some extensive tests with tracert, netstat and ping and have narrowed down the problem region:

tracert 88.198.56.21

16 146 ms 147 ms 151 ms uthgard.game-server.cc [88.198.56.21] - 5 time out (~200 pings)

Trace complete.

Anyhow, I'm quit sure the problem exists somewhere between hops #12 and #15. I was wondering if anyone savvy with networking could advise a work around? Is it possible to use IP routing tables to bypass the hops 12-15? How would I go about doing that? Any advice at all would be very much appreciated.

Hello,

Sorry if it was necessary to create a new topic about these problems of lagging...
I reported twice last days about this, and GM said it was a ISP problem.

I play in an french guild on Hibernia, and the only persons who had such a problem were the Belgian players (all by Belgacom).
No other connection problem excepted uthgard, and it becomes unplayable.

I don't know if these are the sames problems than by US players, but just for info, the same here...

For me the problem looks like hop #9 prs-bb2-link.telia.net
If you do a google search on this DNS you found out, that several people got problems routing through this hop.

I dont know the location of prs-bb2-link.telia.net, but it seems thats the atlantic ocean connection between NY and Europe.

Routing problems are often not correctly shown in a single traceroute, cause of alternate routes.
You better use VisualRoute which is Freeware in one edition and make an exported report.

Well, all the research I've done and all the thought I've given tells me that nothing can be done about it from my end, and that I have no control over the route my packets take on the internet. I guess it really doesn't matter where the problem exists. So, unless anyone has any bright ideas, I guess we just have to "deal with it?"

Someone has to know something...

And here I was going insane... Calling my ISP and everything... When at the telia hops my latency (lag meter) is always 175+ and when enemies enter screen = red or 200+ and cannot move. Glad to see its not my computer! Its kinda interesting actually. Cause if I lag atleast I know enemies are incoming or even a stealther! Works like a charm... Lol

One of my guildies did that and discovered the jump or lag problems was caused by a gap in denmark somewhere (between his computer and the uthgard server).

I dont know how to do it myself.

When i first started on Uthgard a month agi the connection seemed very good with no lag spikes. I have had the same problem as Beanie describes for the last several days. Today is totally unplayable and I have LDed twice (I have never LDed before either!)and have given up trying to play.

My trace route shows the same problems. Seems as soon as i pass from telia to Hetzner routers the connection becomes unstable.

Anyone got a proxy setup that may bypass the problem?

Can anyone who has years experience on Uthgard server tell me if this has a reoccurring problem?

I have had the same problem as described above - the problem is intermittent but has been happening for the last several weeks. I made a thread about it yesterday, but that was because I was going LD every 3-5 minutes and the rest of the time I was getting so much lag the game was unplayable. Previously I hadn't said anything since the game was still playable, just extremely laggy. I am adding my $.02 to this thread since I too am a U.S. player who happens to go through both of the companies mentioned above. Adding my information here to consolidate all similar lag issues into a single thread.

Been having horrible lag the past few days, adding my tracer to the thread.

The problem seemed to had been fixed yesterday! No lag was present, response times for trace route to the server was perfect. Now today back to lag spikes... even worse it seems. I dont think its a bandwidth issue...
