I installed Daoc Cata and Isles. Installed Daoc loader freeshards v2.2 .
When i try to connect it says access violation. i am unsuporrted. any help?

If it's Freeshard Launcher 2.12 you are talking about go and get another launcher (e.g. DOLLoader177+, DAoC-Portal, or DAoC-IRC).

I am a little confused about logging in too... First I had the original DAoC as they they were sold in stores by the first times, no patches or expansions. I realized that it would be impossible to play with such an outdated version. Than I downloaded Shrouded Isles expansion (1.19Gb) from Mythic official website. Still did not work with any server. I uninstalled the whole think and downloaded the 14-trial (1.8GB, which says that Shrouded Isles is Included) from the same website. It finally lauched! at least for Uthgard and a few other free servers with DAoC portal. I now can roam around a quite interesting place in Albion and so forth so that my main "cannot log in" problem was finally solved. The problem now is that an in-game message keeps asking to "upgrade to version 1.82". I read somewhere that am version 1.81. After scavanging lots of forums I still need to ask:

1st) What is the best way to upgrade to 1.82 or 1.83 then? The regular camelot.exe starts downloading a 800Mb file with a ridiculous speed of 3Kb/s no metter how fast my broadband is. Any link that I can use some download accelerator?

2nd) How large are the upgrade files? (just to confirm that i am downloading the right thing)

3rd) What is the problem with my 1.81 version anyway if I can log in to the game and play it? Am I missing too many good things?

I thank any answer because I have been dealing with huge downloads/installs/patches/servers/more huge downloads and other things for a week since I bought my DAoC CD. I am totally new to this.

Mmmmm yes, 80Mb. The update reduced to about that after I downloaded and installed Catacombs Engine Updade for Shrouded Isles (1.19Gb), Trials of Atlantis Patch 1.83 (14.8Mb) and Trials of Atlantis (704Mb). The last one from http://daoc.goa.com/en after going on downloads section and selecting update 1.82 -> 1.83. I did finish the now reduced patching process and... It was still version 1.81! DOOOOOP, as Homer Simpson might say.
What do I do now? Suppose I give up updating to 1.82, which shards/servers accept 1.81 not 1.82 and further?

I don't know what's going on on your system. Are you sure you installed all files into a single directory? Maybe it was too much up- and downgrading. Normally, you only have to install a base DAoC and then upgrade once for Catacombs or twice for Darkness Rising. You'll probably going to hate me for my suggestion...but maybe you want to try again from scratch? First, make sure you know what you want to have at the end of the process. This should take you to a current version of the game, i.e. 1.82 from European (patch.camelot-europe.com:1280) server or 1.83 from US (patch.daoc.net:1280) server.

Amazing! It worked! I am now version 1.83! I followed the instructions of your link for the US version (since I had already downloaded both necessary files for it some days ago). The instructions there made me realize what was the problem. I was making a big mess with european and US versions, installing all sorts of things with nothing to do with each other. A real miscellaneous of gigabytes! I had started from scratch, as you said, other times but I was just installing the wrong things. The uncoordenate up and downgrading that you said.
