Hi. I just got back from like a six month break from Uthgard - only to notice that my scout was renamed from "Handcannon" to "Darlen." I am not sure why this happened, because the name Handcannon doesn't have any negative connotation, and doesn't go over against the code of conduct for our naming (as far as I know). It isn't a "dirty" english word or anything. Is there anyone that I can talk to about this =[

Nothing 'rude' here apart from the last one, and that isnt even an accepted definition, just something someone made up (just type your own name into urbandic to see)

To risk being rude -- I don't think Handcannon is slang for anything. It's a kind of gun! It would be like naming your character: Shotgun or Rifle. I guess I didn't realize it was slang for anything....in fact.. it was my World of Warcraft character for 4 years and I never had any issue.

Well. I guess I can't argue about what is written there, but it was probably added by some elementary school kid. Urbandictionary is pretty funny... but its juvenile. It's too bad that someone had to add that as a definition to something innocuous. But it should be known that Urbandictionary is not the be-all-end-all in the naming of things. If that were the case--someone could write an entry about ANYBODY they don't like and they would end up getting their name changed. I can think of a few choice HIBS/MIDS that I could write some entries about. =p

yep. there are some very racist lastnames in hibernia as well - which are way worse.

but i have to admit i dont like non-(at least semi)-roleplay names for characters as well.

Never thought Handcannon could have such a meaning. The Staff is overreacting sometimes when it comes to names. Still remember a Char named Panzerfaust which got renamed because the name wasn't fitting the roleplay thing.
I still wonder why Holzmichel never got renamed...

Don't know when and if Handcannon was renamed, but anyway - we usually talk with the player to be renamed to find an acceptable alternative name.
If you think a character name violates our server rules, please do not hesitate to report it with /appeal.
