Ive been playing on this server for about 4 days and whenever i go near a town, in this case, costwald which is the only real one Ive ever been to, the game freezes for a few seconds and then crashes. I have only had this problem once before with warhammer online. Im only saying this because mythic made both of these games. This is very frustrating and if anyone has any advice to offer, id love to have it. Here are my specs;
Intell Pentium 4 processor 2.8 GHz ATI Radeon Graphics Card X300/X500/X1050 (just installed new drivers last week) 1 GB of RAM 22.1 GB of free space on my hard drive DirectX 9 |

I have the same problem but only when im in frontiers.
this could be a problem with a corrupted file
i remember ALWAYS crashing somewhere near the bandit camps near cotswold then i did a update with "check all files" checked and dingly dong it was fixed ![]() |
Thanks Nixian, just one thing. How do i do that? Weres the check files folder?
run the camelot.exe and then

tried it, still having the same problem. is it possible that its because im using game version 1.68 (atleast thats what it says in the bottom left hand corner of the updater). If i click the patch button in DAOC portal settings, it checks for updated files but nothing happens after that. Im using the EU version.

the 1.68 is the patcher version not game version
and yes it patches - which it should do 100% - if thats been done and its not fixed ![]() |

still open to suggestions from anyone

Could be a memory issue. Freezing then CTD seems to be typical when memory is overwhelmed.
Maybe 1Go is not enough. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Thing is, this ONLY happens when im in a town. Its never happened even 20 feet outside of town. Ill try going to pridewynn keep and see if i crash there too or if im just having an issue with something in costwald. Also, Ive been getting alot of graphic errors latley too (floor dissapearing, monsters dissapearing and can only see names, walls dissapearing, ect.) basically, alot of stuff dissapears. idk if thats related.

A town seems to take a considerable amount of resources each time I get in. I get a significant slow down of performances during the 10 first seconds (I have no idea why though). I seem to recall some people complaining about memory leaks in DAoC (memory that is not released after been used), leading to overflow then crash. If this is the problem, there's nothing you can do directly about it (it's in the code itself, users can't fix it. It's a real pain in the ass for a coder himself to find and fix a memory leak). That's why I suggested to increase your memory. That should compensate for it. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

sounds a lot like problems with ram / graphic card (memory in general)
if u have 1 GB ram + run vista that for sure can be the problem vista itself use 1-2 GB |
Yeah, vista is REALLY memory greedy. littleman7, if you're using such OS, consider the memory problem more seriously. 1Go is not enough. When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.

Im using windows XP, is it still a RAM problem?
Not necessarily. XP is way less greedy than vista. This said, you can have unnecessary background processes brought by certain program installations. Only you can figure this out. Check the task manager to see what amount of memory is used when no application is open. (while you're at it, you can also check the memory use when DAoC is running, that should give us a clue) Edit: Of course, if you're running several applications concurrently with DAoC (such as a browser, MSN, etc), no need to say that all this uses a considerable amount of memory as well. Turning all that ****** off would certainly help. ![]() When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always declares that it is his duty.
