except that vs an inf you're always going to land your shots first because of MoS. and if for some reason you miss just RR5 and run. if you miss again speed burst and run. if you miss again then God hates you because you rolled a ranger and wants you to die.

I'm guessing that doesn't happen often.

Critshot requires the target to not be moving, excluding moving in stealth or ladders. not in combat,

I doubt that sometimes...

This is a mis-implementation of uthgard. On live moving even in stealth prevented you from getting crit-shottet. You could even press side-strafe in stun(!!!) on live to prevent getting crit-shottet from scouts for example.

Here on Uthgard some people spread the rumor that you can critshot whenever target is moving slower than regular walking speed - which, ridicuously, includes stealth. And this is how it is implemented.

Move slow -> get critshot. Move normal speed or faster -> can't get critshot.

you dont play an archer so you cant say nothing about, the only reason i dont get killed 30 times per day is because whenever and wherever i m always ready to run away. and everyone can tell you that i m the king of runners here :D

the first thing i say to wannabe-bowranger is be ready to run run run run, and run again, stand still trying to kill something make only die an archer. i run away out of target melee range even if im at 100% and he is 10%. this prevent the possibility of been snared, poisoned or debuffed, and give me the possibility of speeding away without interrupt...

Only if carmo is up and the inf has no more than MoS2. The Inf has the option to spec high MoS and use, e.g., dot-charges to instantly interrupt any archer aiming at him.

and if for some reason you miss just RR5 and run.
Which is impossible, if the assassin used snare poison.

if you miss again speed burst and run.
Which will break if some sort of dot (even bleed damage) is on you.

if you miss again then God hates you because you rolled a ranger and wants you to die..

Don't know, I play both, and my inf rocks a lot more than my ranger, escapcially in 1on1.

Most anti-Ranger threads are one sided. They look at what the ranger gets, and nothing they or other classes get. They look at camo as a passive skill that rangers always have up, even though its active and has a 10 min reuse after any attacks vs an enemy. And Critshot does high damage and can be done easly and all the time, which is false, since many times it will fail because of requirements/miss/evade/block. And many rangers have high MoS, while they as a assasin only spec for MoS2, how not fair. They forget that MoS cost more at higher levels, so they are not getting extra range for free. Also dont forget detect hidden, when is free vs rangers.

And so on.

Almost every thread is this, and that is why nothing will ever change, since nothing is really broken. Just people hate dieing to the mass number of rangers, and that is all it is. Just a mass number of them. If there where fewer, it wouldnt be whined about.

The problem is, that the most threads comparing RR8+ ranger with RR4-5 assassins. Today I lost with my Inf against a ranger in a nearly fair 1on1 (no namecalling :P). But he has to pull off IP and purge against a RR4L3 infiltrator with cheap SC template and no viper. I even played not very well, since I messed up some styles and forgot to use my dmg-add charge and a heal-pot in combat. So, there was some potential left. And the ranger was RR10 melee specced.

I dont complain against losing, because the ranger was alot higher in RR than me. Trying to kill any other solo specced class RR10 would give nearly the same result of the fight.

Yep. Rangers have IP 2-3, MoS 4-5 , and tons of other things, and talk like he is talking about a rr4-5, when that could only be a much higher rr. If you spec for mos2 and he specs for 4, you have spec points left over to get more stuff, but that is ignored in these posts.

Thank you Tzaaaaa, you pretty much said everything I was going to say. Mauriac, you and the other stealthers need to start using examples from rangers a little more realistic as examples. Tzaaaa is 10L3, and is a damn well played ranger who (as far as I know) is sniper spec. He's also one of only about 2 or 3 that I know of that plays his spec extremely well. Several factors your not looking at with an open mind here.

1. It doesnt matter if your moving Mauriac, since your stealthed we can still get a crit shot off on you.

2. We have a 20% chance of becoming unstealthed on a Crit shot EVERY TIME. I dont remember to many assasins becoming unstealthed on perf's before doing the attack.

3. Even w/ MoS 5 pulling off a crit shot can be tough. I only go for them when I have camo up. If camo is down I dont even try. The shot's take to long and by the time the shot goes off either the stealther will see you or he will be out of stealth detection range.

4. You can perform a perf on ANY toon in the game. Crit shots for us can only be performed on non moving visible targets or stealthed moving targets.

5. The bow aspect of a ranger is only useful against a handful of the community. As Tzaaa pointed out, if I see an enemy w/ a pet or shield out I know my bow is pretty much useless. Pets and shields don’t matter to your attack.

I could go on listing things to try and make you see that rangers are really not that op’d, but it would not do any good. Basically, because rangers are the only class that consistantly kills assasins (sb’s and inf’s) all we ever hear is ranger is op’d. The reality is just that ranger is a bad matchup for inf’s and sb’s. Were also a bad matchup for NS’s when I duo them. Were not op’d, just a bad matchup for you. Would be no different then me saying that friar’s need nerf’d since they destroy my ranger. Friar’s are fine, they are just a bad matchup for me. If I shoot them they just run out of distance and heal up. When they get to me they hit me like a mack truck super fast and I barely put a dent in them. Guess what I do? I’ll give you a hint, I don’t make thread’s about how op’d they are, instead I just try and avoid them if I can.

Also, I know you’re a good player, and one of a handful of albs that play’s honorably and fair w/ my toon so I will give you this advice. If you ever see a ranger/hunter w/ camo down pulling back his bow, UNSTEALTH and move towards him. This prevents that person from getting a crit shot off on u. Also, I was surprised at the crit on a crit shot since that is supposed to be removed.

One more note, to everyone saying that RANGERS need nerf and hunters and scouts need loving instead. You are the people perpetuating the idea that rangers are powerful. You would be amazed at how many guildies and others have sent me tells in game asking why their ranger sucks in frontiers after thid. I just laugh and tell them that they have been reading the thread to much. The only thing that rangers get that hunters/scouts dont get is duel wield and self buffs. Hunters also get 2 of the 4 self buffs that we get. Hunters also get pets (I know dmg is messed up, but they are still nice for interupt) and scouts will get a HUGE boost when purge is on a 30 minute reuse timer since they get a 9 sec shield slam stun.

Ignore Pain- HUNTER/RANGER/SCOUT All have access to it

Physical Defense- HUNTER/RANGER/SCOUT All have access to it

Mastery of Stealth- ALL 3 have access to is (as do assasins)

Camo- ALL 3 have access to this.

I will admit that the scout has a hard time w/ the 15 min purge timer on shield slam, but I have been killed by many scouts. Bistravoda killed me last week a few times. Hunters need some things fixed (ped dmg and 2h dmg) but once they get those fixed they are a great class. Just ask Edgtho.

Correct which is an incorrect implementation of critshot. If I'm moving at all regardless of whether im stealthed or not I should not be able to get critshot but for whatever reason uthgard is different then live in regards to this.

2. We have a 20% chance of becoming unstealthed on a Crit shot EVERY TIME. I dont remember to many assasins becoming unstealthed on perf's before doing the attack.

True but you dont have to worry about lag and wondering whether or not you need to PA early or late to account for it and you don't have to be in melee range to pull off critshot so I don't really see the comparison.

3. Even w/ MoS 5 pulling off a crit shot can be tough. I only go for them when I have camo up. If camo is down I dont even try. The shot's take to long and by the time the shot goes off either the stealther will see you or he will be out of stealth detection range.

I have MoS2 and whenever I've fought you the only reason I know I'm about to get hit is because I hear your bow draw and then I get hit but I never actually see you.

4. You can perform a perf on ANY toon in the game. Crit shots for us can only be performed on non moving visible targets or stealthed moving targets.

Apples and oranges. PA is a positional melee range ability. Critshot is a ranged ability that is currently broken as i mentioned above and you also confirmed.

5. The bow aspect of a ranger is only useful against a handful of the community. As Tzaaa pointed out, if I see an enemy w/ a pet or shield out I know my bow is pretty much useless. Pets and shields don’t matter to your attack.

Shield classes are just as hard for me as they are for you because there is no defense penetration on uthgard. Not to mention getting slammed hit and WOC3-ed in the face hurts a lot when you don't have IP.

That is a technique i use often. Unfortunately a lot of the time I cant SEE them i can only HEAR them so i have no idea which direction to run towards. Also a lot of the time you guys don't actually appear on my screen until your 2nd shot which is a common bug on this server.

And just for the record. No amount of perfect play, 1500 range dots or anything else will save me from this sad BS that passes for skill on uthgard.

Typical skilless players doing what they do and this server is FULL of them.

I don't recall saying that but feel free to put more words in my mouth if you would like. I'm curious to see what else you can falsely attribute to me.

Especially since it's my personal opinion that anyone who plays any stealth class and has to zerg for their RPs is probably a bad player which I've said before in other threads as well.

Edit: Not trying to be a dick bro. But I do think that critshot shouldnt work if I'm moving at all. That's my biggest beef, getting shot out of stealth for 1000 while moving.
