uhm... may I suggest that this new system can be not really effective?
consider that the ip, as all webdeveloper knows, is a strange thing... for example: I'm italian and my isp (fastweb) use a sort of "LAN" for their users, so that, going on internet, a lot of users have the same "external" ip and if one of this make a mistake a lot will be banned... on the other hand, one (with a normal isp) who want to grap the data of other users can restart his router to have other ip or can easily change his ip with a proxy or something similar... and this is only few examples... |

So if a tree next to your house would burn you would not try to extinguish it because something else near your house might start burning some time?
Of course this can not keep all hacking attempts away from us, it will do so for the majority. You can by the way of course contact us so we remove the ban from your ip address or just wait until it expires. |

It's also quite useful if you need to study before an exam. Or if you if want your partner/roomie to stop playing for a while.

your metaphor is not really fitting the situation... if you put a padlock on the door of a people that uses the wrong key for is home, you will stop his attempt... if the home is an hostel you will have a lot of people which without reason will stay in the street... but if the people is a thief that try to open others house, he probably will find the way to break the padlock, or more probably he will enter from the window ![]() i don't say that you don't have to try to extinguish the fire (I menage a lot of site and I know how it's "annoying" have scammers, hackers and similars)... I only say that you try to extinguish it with a glass of water, that is the ip by the way, my is only an opinion, so gl with your system ![]() |
