told you before, ive had those lags too, every 5 to 10 seconds lagmeter goes red - even if im solo in SH with the next char 3 zones away, no inc, barely chatter- , ppl in rvr jump all over the place etc.
last night i did 2fg vs 3fg rvr with just miner loadlags. try the font thing. i thought it was mainly server/conection related too sicne it started to go really bad after we moved to manitu - and it is to a degree, but as said, the font change did reduce it a lot thus far. even if its not directly related you might wanna try it. at least it wont hurt. maybe yesterday was just a flux^^ well see in the long run, i keep updating. |

Funny, font00.tga doesn't work for me for chat. It works for the loading scren tips though.
Arial09 works just fine, but I don't like the way it looks. Sucks because font00.tga is what classic DAOC used. I even tried copying the font00.tga from my original pre-SI client on my old harddrive, but instead of getting a blank chat window I got little dots. So now I need to find a font that looks similar to font00.tga and that works. BTW, if anyone is interested in knowing how to change the font, it's pretty simple. Copy ASSETS.XML from your ui/atlantis folder and PASTE into ui/custom folder (create folder if it doesn't exist). EDIT that new assests.xml. You will see a section about halfway through that looks like <TTFFont> <Name>chat_small</Name> <File>fonts/MyriadPro-Regular.ttf</File> <Height>10</Height> <Antialiased>true</Antialiased> <Hint>2</Hint> </TTFFont> <TTFFont> <Name>chat_large</Name> <File>fonts/MyriadPro-Regular.ttf</File> <Height>13</Height> <Antialiased>true</Antialiased> <Hint>2</Hint> </TTFFont> <TTFFont> <Name>myriadbold</Name> <File>fonts/MyriadPro-Semibold.ttf</File> <Height>13</Height> <Antialiased>true</Antialiased> <Hint>2</Hint> </TTFFont> <TTFFont> <Name>minion</Name> <File>fonts/MinionPro-Regular.ttf</File> <Height>16</Height> <Antialiased>true</Antialiased> <Hint>2</Hint> </TTFFont> Simply relace all that with <Font.> <Name>chat_small</Name> <File>fonts/arial09.tga</File> </Font.> <Font.> <Name>chat_large</Name> <File>fonts/arial09.tga</File> </Font.> <Font.> <Name>myriadbold</Name> <File>fonts/arial09.tga</File> </Font.> <Font.> <Name>minion</Name> <File>fonts/arial09.tga</File> </Font.> (without the dots) First thing I tried was setting <antialiased>true to false, which did help framerate. But the font was ugly as hell. I'm currently experimenting with fonts other than arial09. It works fine but I don't like how it looks. So far I've tried font00 and it won't show in chat windows but does show in the loading screen tips. (font00.tga is in the wrong folder, you have to copy/paste from FONTS to UI/FONTS). Once I find a suitable font I'll let you know just how much of a performance improvement it makes, but I can say that so far it's a very noticeable improvement. Even in Camelot City I can get around with only medium lag, compared to the horrid lag leading to the occasional linkdeath with the old TT anti-aliased fonts. |

If you have your wlan encrypted (I hope you do..), the encryption key is changed periodically. This key change can (and usually will) cause a very small interruption in the connection, which is known to cause sync problems in internet games. Also changing your wlan card, router, upgrading router or card firmware etc might help. One router might work just fine with this card, but be completely useless with another brand card. Try with a cable first. |
