It also denies writing access to your OS HDD which will not allow any viruses e.g. to take place. :)

But I can log in, but when I hit play in the character screen it says: programm doesn't work anymore.

And it doesn't make sense. Disabling a security system while other players can just play daoc.

Okay....It seems that nobody could find a solution. Great, well in your opinion it's just one people less, doesn't do any difference. And then u go just have a ****** fight about disabling a security system. Nice work!

Well I give up, if nobody else comes with decent help.

I'm telling you. 80+% of players play without UAC. It's a major problem. Actually, I'm in Win7 now, and you can't even save a picture without UAC causing a problem.

Point being: DISABLE UAC. If you are that tight-arsed about playing DAoC on Vista, then freakin' disable it and play.

EDIT:
Also, do not click the screen while it's loading.
With Vista, that not responding screen will always come up, and will disappear when your client loads all the way. Just with UAC off, it happens 90% less times.

Ive had absolutely 0 problems with UAC. If you turn UAC off, you give up any right whatsoever to complain anything about Windows security problems. Its there for a reason. "Real" OSs have had UAC like features since the beginning of time. Altho, it is true that some programs have problems with Vista/7/2008 tightened security, but its hardly the OSs fault, but badly designed program.

Of course, if some program has problems with UAC, theres not much else you can do than to turn it off. In this specific case, try installing DAoC and DAoC portal in a non-protected directory, outside Program Files.

Start DAoCPortal with Admin-Rights.
