Well its not really hard to connect if every step is followed in the How to connect guide.

Please make sure your username does not contain special characters ( ~!@#$%^&*()_+|<>?:"{} ) and account name or password does not exceed 20 characters.

At the top of the DAOCPortal window, if it does not say "DAOCPortal v2.8" Please close DAOCportal, right click the DAOCPortal icon and choose "Run as administrator". If it does not prompt you to update automatically, please click 'Help, check for updates'. Apply the update and try again.

It let me in game but unable to adjust resolution. I then log out and now it will not let me back in. I run the portal as admin. the daocportal v2.8 comes up and sticks saying loading..... Its stuck there now. makes no sense. the admins really need to make one button we can click to do all this. pretty ridic imo

now when i try to run portal as admin i get:

Have done all these steps and still can not log in correctly. I all but give up, and from a professional standpoint you guys really need to seek a easier way for people to patch and connect. Understand your consumer and realize not everyone is programming gurus and look for a resolution for the normal joe to get into game if you wish to flourish your server.

whenever im install the microsoft framework when it finishes it says install error. I take that as it never finished. Still the same result when i lauch portal it sticks in loading.....

Remind you i did get logged in once and able to make a character. Restarted my machine to refresh its resources and now unable to get back in.

If the .net framework components aren't functioning correctly you will encounter problems with the portal. Do you know how to take a screenshot?

If you have windows vista, windows 7, or windows 8 you can click 'start' and type "Snipping" into the search. This will find the "snipping tool". Using the snipping tool, create a rectangle around the area you want to take a snip of. Click the 'save' button. Once saved, you can attach the picture to a post here on the forum using the "Upload attachment" section at the bottom.

Look in C:\Program Files (x86)\DAoC Portal and see if you see "MPKLib.dll" there. That may be the source of that error.

I removed that mpk file from that folder...this is what i get when i try to launch portal as admin:

Sorry there has been a misunderstanding. You must have that file in order to connect.

Please re-install DAOCPortal to ensure all files are present. First, close DAOC Portal. Then, open the start menu and find 'Control Panel'. Open 'Programs and Features'. Find DAOCPortal in the list, then choose Uninstall.

Please download and install daocportal from this link:

Be sure to run it as admin, where it will ask to update. Allow it to update and try again.
