Hey guys. I used to play the original daoc. I don't like it anymore cause all the new expansions ruined the game. I liked it back during shrouded isles. Anyway, this seems like the closest thing I can get to playing the old school daoc and it gives me a good nostalgic feeling. I've posted here before but I forgot some of the questions I ask, plus I have some new ones.

1. What races are available in Uthgard? Just the original ones? SI ones? Up to which expansion are the races available?

2. Same question as number 1, but instead of races, what classes are avaialable? Like up to what expansion?

3. I remember someone saying that everyone starts out in the same place. Like for example, in hibernia, everyone starts out in Mag mell. In the old school days of daoc, celts started in Connia. Elves in Magmell, Lurikeen in Howth, etc. Is there a chance or maybe in the future Uthgard will be like this? It's kind of pointless for those towns to be there if not that many people are there. It's dumb that everyone starts in Magmell. Is this ever going to happen in Uthgard? I miss Connia so much.

4. Does Uthgard have Old Frontiers or New frontiers?

5. Up to what expansion of Daoc do I need to play on Uthgard?

6. Around how many people are on per day in Hibernia? What about Albion? Midgard?

7. Is Uthgard mainly for experienced players or are there a lot of newbs/new daoc players playing it? Because, as much as I played Daoc, I wasn't very good at putting the points into my character the right way so I am kind of a newb and I don't want everyone in the game to be experts.

I'll add more questions when I think of it.

Edit: 8. What expansions are playable in Uthgard?

1. All races are available except minotaurs.
2. On Uthgard there are SI classes but no Cata or LotM classes.
3. Everyone starts at the same starting location. No idea if that will change.
4. Uthgard has New Frontiers Emain. They will change it to Agramon at some point.
5. Play ToA->LotM. Makes no difference.
6. Prime time 100+ per realm is normal. More people on at weekends.
7. Mix of newbies and vets. Skill wise it's easier here than on live.
8. You can use any of them but you just won't have the stuff they have to offer. No labyrinth, no mythrians, no champ levels etc. ToA of course has graphical differences but other then that, they are all the same.

Also all the classes are per 1.80 patch even tho client is 1.89.
This builder is pretty accurate for that.

Alright thanks so much. I have a couple more questions if you don't mind.

5. I don't really get this part. Are you saying I have to AT LEAST have All the expansions up to Toa to be able to play but I can still go beyond that?

And about classes being 1.80 and client 1.89, what does this mean? I'm kind of a newb about patches and clients and stuff so can you tell me what this means because I'm afraid if I do something wrong I won't be able to play.

Use any client from ToA, Catacombs, DR or Laby. Download preferred client from official sites if you don't have one installed all ready. Then get DAoC Portal. Open it up and set the path where you installed your DAoC and then patch it to 1.89EU.
Then just make up an username and password and remember it.

EDIT: Don't worry about 1.80 or 1.89. It was just an heads up on which state the classes were at.
All class styles/abilities are like they were on live at 1.80 patch. Also from SI classes necro isn't implemented atm and animist is missing shrooms so those are unplayable.
Other pets are implemented or being implemented but they are all playable unlike those 2 because if anything, they still have their first pets that scale with level.

What exactly do you mean by client? I know how daocportal works because I've played on another freeshard before. By client, do you mean, like, the game? Like, you said Toa, catacombs, dr, or laby. So if I used Toa, basically I need to get all expansions up to Toa and just use Toa to play?

I just don't get what you mean by client. I'm sorry if it's a stupid question.

Yeah, client is the game, the software - like Darkness Rising client or ToA client. It doesn't matter at all
what you have got before the client because it all ready has everything that the previous client had.
Whichever of these you have, just use it, they all work. Since you played other shards you don't need
to do anything and can just connect to Uthgard.

Alright, so I need up to Toa to work? Or can I go below it?

Would it work if I just got Classic, SI, NF, and Foundations?

Edit: Never mind, forgot you already said that lol. Plus NF is after Toa.

To play Dark Age of Camelot you need to install the game (aka client) on your computer to be able to connect e.g. to Uthgard (aka server).

The version is the number that is displayed in the upper (or in case of ToA lower) left corner of the screen while the client is contacting the server. As long as you use the European (current US version unfortunately not supported at the moment...) server to patch your game you shouldn't run into any problems.

Well, it seems it's been answered twice already above: only ToA or newer expansions. Even if it worked to connect with anything lower you'd soon run into problems such as invisible (for you) mobs/NPCs.
Happy hunting!

I have another question. I don't have the game anymore because I'm getting a new laptop, but when I do, I've run into a problem.

I was planning on downloading ToA for free off of daoc.com but it says "Compatible with US/Mythic servers only!"

Does that mean I have to buy the actual game for it to work?
