it does alot,
3 attackers mainhand - guarded with smallshield, ~40% blockrate
3 attackers mainhand - guarded with big shield, ~80% blockrate
3 attackers main+off - guarded with smallshield, ~10% blockrate
3 attackers main+off - guarded with big shield, ~ 40% blockrate
thats just my personal feel though maybe a gm could give us some intel?

A GM already did and didn't confirm your feelings:
Blue wrote:From the code: Guard is influenced by shield size but only the attackers on the Guarder itself count not the guarded group member. This is propably incorrect. So if the guarder has no attacker on himself and the guarded group member 10 enemies, the guarder will block every enemy with no penalty. Sounds like a bug to me, at least thats what I read from the code.

Edit: koruun wrote that this is live like.

On the other hand, if i take a look at the DoL sources version 2007 i donwloaded, it's the opposite, it takes the number of attackers of the guarded, and the shield size of the guarder is checked to apply a penalty.

Delta between DoL and Uthgard, wrong reading of Blue, wrong feeling of Akip, or maybe fixed since this old post made by Blue (Oct 11, 2009) ?

but thats not the point, im sorry that you aren't german lupold made a post about it, confirming my feelings

Well, thank the heavens for brimstone shield then xD.

"He was concerned only with the naked fundamentals of life. The warm intimacies of small, kindly things, the sentiments and delicious trivialities that make up so much of civilized men's lives were meaningless to him. A wolf was no less a wolf because a whim of chance caused him to run with the watch-dogs. Bloodshed and violence and savagery were the natural elements of the life Conan knew; he could not, and would never, understand the little things that are so dear to civilized men and women."

PS: Ginsu, if this is not a serious question and more a troll attempt you will get a ban next time as I don't like if somebody wastes our time with such questions.

it is livelike that gaurd has no caps and shield size doesnt matter. on live i could go to dartmoor (back before new darmoor) and guard for a smite cleric, and have them pull every pony and giant in the place. with just blue d/q and base dex my scout could reach 100% block rate guarding the cleric. and yet 2 ponies on me and id start taking dmg.

Bump.

Was having a debate with another player about this very question. Small shield = large shield when guarding someone? Same chance to block?

I've always assumed large shield only mattered if i was blocking for myself against multiple opponents and that when guarding it didn't matter what shield i was using.
