melee range going wrong under certain circumstances

I noticed weird behavior (I don't want call it bug yet) with melee range. If I slam target on top of range with shield and then try hit with weapon, it says "target is too far away". SO i need make few steps towards target and start hitting with weapon. Did someone seen it too? My connection is fine, no lags, ping ok.
