GM Status in Guild/Promotion

Anyone know why I cant promote other toons on my account to GM status within my guild? Any help is appreciated.

A character must be online to be promoted. Make a friend a rank 0, then have them make your other char a rank 0.

One more note, if you want guild leader (rank 0) you must use /gc leader (player) not /gc promote
