If I try to paste text into the chat window, I just get a strange little symbol. Is that intentional? Has the ability to paste text been disabled for some reason?

I am not aware the daoc client ever had the ability to paste your clipboard correctly

Coloured text represents my personal opinion and is not associated with Uthgard Staff nor is it an official statement. |

Oh yeah, it most definitely did. Was very common practice back in the day and even relatively recently on live (at least, the last time I played live). Commonly it was used to paste text copied to the clipboard from the chat.log file.

It would *really* be amazing if you guys would clarify/let people use Mojo. It's been in heavy use by quite a few members of the DAoC community for ages now, and playing without it here has been a bit of a pain at times. I don't expect you guys to have the time to add in half of these features into your launcher - but Mojo already is out there, and works. http://mojoware.org/p/instructions.past ... -chat.html or any of these... http://mojoware.org/p/features.html Last edited by Budikah on May 04, 2017 22:48, edited 1 time in total.

Third party tools are not allowed, and the one you're speaking with directly modifies game client. You should create a feature request in our issue tracker and upvote it and we can see about adding that functionality in ourselves.

Okay, I don't know what the hell Mojo is and my inquiry has nothing to do with it so kinda don't appreciate my post being hijacked.
I'm just asking about normal copy/paste functionality as has existed for decades. |

I'm not sure if you are trolling me or not - from what I've seen you have the feature request button disabled. Is that part of the joke or did you not know that? *EDIT* - I just had to click around more, apparently you can put in website/launcher feature requests, just nothing related to in-game. Just not sure what the big deal with Mojo is - staff has so much work on their plate at the moment it seems silly to recreate features from a publicly available and trusted program. Anecdotal, but copy/paste has never worked for me outside of using Mojo - hence why I brought it up. It is literally the only result on Google that is relevant that I can find about copying/pasting into chat. |

In regards to whether Ctrl-V ever used to work in the past, there used to be a chat log utility that would parse the chat.log and send output to the Windows clipboard. That output would look something like, "I have received 999999 XP after killing 9 monsters at a rate of 99999 per hour in the last 1 hour, 30 minutes" or something to that effect. And if you wanted to share that with your group, you'd just type /g Ctrl-V and it would paste the output from the Windows clipboard into the Group chat so your whole group could get a sense of whether the XP was better here or at that other place over there, for example.
That's all I'm looking for is a restoration of the ability to paste from the Windows clipboard like we used to be able to do. DEFINITELY NOT some third-party application that modifies the game client. Until today I had never heard of Mojo and I have no interest whatsoever in it, especially if it effs with the game client in any way. |

Can you find any evidence of this being part of the client or what these people did?
What you are describing just sounds like somebody activated chat log (CTRL L) let it run, put the output into the parser, then used a tool (ie: Mojo) to inject their copied text into the game. I cannot find a single instance of people talking about being able to paste into the DAoC client outside of Mojo. I'd love this feature for a variety of reasons - make it easier to send messages that have been copied from Google translate as I've been in a few groups with a very low level of English. |

This "mojo" didn't even exist back then, man. You didn't need any third-party application because it was a native function of the client; it's a Windows application and Windows applications by default accept input from the Windows clipboard. Someone ADDED code to put that little box with the X in it when you press Ctrl-V instead of the clipboard contents.

If i remember correctly, copy/paste never worked in DAOC ingame chat.

DTOC (Dark Tool of Camelot) was banned by mythic when they added /stats and implemented the chat buffer. Mojo can allow copy paste.
No copy/paste functionality exists in the base DAOC Client |
