Good class for high ping newbie?

This game is quite daunting even having played a looot of mmo's due to the commitment in the choices you make and PvP focus so I have some basic questions.
A lot of the combat seems to be around timing, I made a hero initially as the hib land looks like my thing but now I'm reading about how melee users have a lot to learn in terms of timing with cancels and parrying and such since they're the tanks on the frontlines. I'm thinking instead now going a more support or ranged based class so it leans a bit more towards being based on what spells I cast and when rather than reacting to being hit. Anyway I'm not looking to get SUPER into this game, just experience some adventure in a new unique world! I generally have around 180-300 ping from Australia to US servers. I was looking at both druid and bard as my main choices, however it sounds like bard is a bad choice for a new player, alternatively straight caster as an Eld or Bain. Just looking for some input, thanks in advance! |

Hero is a great class for a new player. Tanks (and general Melee classes) tend to be more forgiving than casters/ranged classes due to interupts and other things.
I couldn't help but notice you mentioned timing on cancels. Maybe you already know, but the best way to play solo melee is to click your preferred style, and immediately after click your backup style. What this means is, if you want to perform a style that requires a parry or a block, you click this skill first. If you don't do anything else, and you don't get a parry or block before the style attempts, it will fail. If you click an Anytime style as a backup, it will perform this style instead. Example, Parry style on slot 1, Anytime style on slot 2. Click 1, then 2. If you parry, you will perform slot 1. If you don't parry, you will perform slot 2 Hope this helps. |
