Patcher been DL'ing the 290mb patch for 5 hrs now .. I get about 5-6 Mbps sp is something wrong ?

The launcher will indicate the status of the download. How much is the progress bar going?
Network speed is also highly dependent on your geographic location. The server being in Germany, you will take longer downloading anything if you live in the US. It also depends on the load of the server, of course.
