Ok, so the situation is that I was just banned for 3 days for having 2 accounts logged in.

Maybe I dont understand the server rules properly... I posted in the english forum stating I would occasionally have 2 pc's logged in under the same IP [router].

Here is the problem, which was explained in detail in the following URL picture of the chat session I had with Nayru [server staff].

http://img117.imageshack.us/my.php?image=uthgardxo7.jpg

The problem is, the server staff expects my wife [who is japanese, a total n00b at pc gaming and without any form of useful keyboard-mouse skills] to perform a jumping in a circle running around the server staff member routine to prove that we are indeed 2 people.

It is true that normally, most people would easily be able to do this - but my wife only crafts and performs simple tasks for me while I am leveling when she has time [usually while watching tv behind me].

The issue of Why doesnt she reply to tells, or how can she craft? She cant read or speak english or german. Only Japanese. But it seems this was of little consequence.

I have built a good relationship with several people in this game, I am not interested in leaving the server - but this sort of heavy-handed action is pushing me to quit Uthgard.

The methods for testing to see if someone is using 2 pc's at the same time is flawed if it is based on the assumption that both players are capable of the proper mouse and keyboard coordination necessary for such a test. It is totally unfair to assume everyone can do such a thing. What if the other person were disabled somehow? More thought needs to be put into the process to keep the testing fair and relevant for all situations - as not all situations are the same.

Finally, I would appreciate a short apology from Nayru - directed at my wife, and an explination of why she [he?] decided to jail us for 3 days. Why? Because you made her feel she was wrong - and for that, YOU are wrong, and you ****** me off by doing it. You made my wife feel bad, she in fact said she is afraid of going to the game again because she doesnt want a conflict. This is a rare chance for us to do something together and it is being ruined by unfair treatment by the server staff. I am sure I don't need to remind everyone reading this - we were all new at one point. We are not born with the skill to use a PC. Punishing someone for their lack of skill is pure ignorance. I can understand why you did it, but she does not. Hearing the explination from me is insufficient. Regardless of you being a game support staff, it needs to come from you, not me.

If you continue to treat people in this manner you will drive new players away from the server in your quest to stop people from abusing 2 account use. The life of the server depends on new people coming, enjoying, and staying with the server. Without them, how can the server grow?

When the time comes that she gains the skill to jump, run, AND move in a circle around an object [person]. I will gladly demonstrate it at that time.

Its just the rules you have to accept when you are playing here especially from one IP! We do checks from time to time to ensure no one uses a buffbot. If your wife is not able to do what our gm told to test you it maybe time to let your wife learn the absolute basics of DAoC movement.

We cannot let such excuses prevent you from beeing jailed or we will hear the most fantastic excuses from all buffbot users next time why the other char is not responding and cant do what the gm tells to do.

And really your statements make me believe you seek for excuses. We will proceed with the buffbot testings and policy for all same-IP users whether you find it good or not is not the topic. Everybody who logs in from same IP's must be prepared to be tested.

fair enough.

the test involves jumping around the GM while running in some sort of pattern as i take it?

yes, i spoke again with her and even offered to send a picture of us playing together lol... that wasnt good enough apparently. so i said i would try to teach her how to perform the test - wether she is good at it or not is unknown, her n00b'ishness is quite high level.

She is a he.

As I already said, a test like I tried with you wouldn't change the situation if we'd do it again now, since it wouldn't give proof about the situation some hours ago. Neither would a picture do.

Well, the server rules have been stated clearly on our homepage. If you want to keep playing on our server then you'll have to accept them. If you have problems with that I guess it would be better for both sides if you took your leave as you mentioned in your post.

If you want to keep playing with two accounts from a single IP you better make sure that you can always proof there are actually two players online -- and not only at times that you prefer. It's easy to pass the test when you have a couple of hours to call a friend over to do it together with you. :P
Happy hunting!

Yeah, 2 days later I plan to log both in and i'll have her practice the requested maneuver of running a circle around me, and when we do use both accounts we will be available to prove it at that time. TBH i am not sure if she can handle jumping as well, but in the jail i was requested to jump and run 8 pattern, and she was to run circles only. I *think* she can do it, tho probably not a very accurate circle. We'll see after i train her how to.

I have been playing an animist on purga, the population on that server has really dropped - apparently they switched servers and there is a lag issue... i even noticed it as well, and this connection is 50 mbit. =P

I spoke of the replies in this post, and she [my wife] seems to understand, luckily she said she would return to the server occasionally. It's a good thing too, because crafting takes way too long for high level items =P time better spent leveling and killing hibbies and albs =)

Especially for you we have prepared another test where you dont have to jump. So no excuses possible when you fail again.
