I would just like to know if crafting gray items will help up my secondary craft skill like leather ? Up to know it doesn't help

Explanation of my problem :

Tailor : 1122
Cloth : 1121
Leather : 1063

Due to that difference of level, I'm not able to craft leather sleeves (blue) which require 1070 leathercrafting.

I'm trying to make some leather leggings af102 to up my Leather skill (green atm), but it doesn't raise the skill up. It's relative expansive to level with leggings, if I chain gloves or boots (gray), will it up my leather skill ?

Grey items (in a sense of grey concerning skill, not player level) wont help - greens will occasionally.

Either look into leathercrafting or another main craft skill, which needs leather like ac, wc or fletcher, depending on how high your skill is there - but skilling at low main skill will be for sure cheaper than doing leathercrafting at very high level in order to raise leather.

Craft some low level weapons that need leather materials (slash weapons for example), and you will gain the missing points for some coppers.
