So here i am, level 40 with 32+10 Beastcraft...

I have been trying for the past 20 minutes to charm a yellow con Devourer in Wilton with no success.

Is there something wrong with the calculations to charm the monsters? This seems a little rediculous. Over 50 resists in a row???

When I was level 31-32, I was able to charm orange con Taurus with only little difficulty, so i dont understand why there is such a big difference in doing it now.

Can someone look at the calculations and possibly make a change so there is a fair chance to use my skill properly?

Thanks

Eggnog [Midgard]

with lvl32 beastcraft you should have.

charm insect lvl 22 (max level 28 )
charm animal lvl 25 (max level40 )

if its not an animal mob you should not be able to charm it. same for insects with lower level.

i don´t play hunter here - thats just the first thing that came into my mind.

The last charm spells of the hunter are at beastcraft level 32 and 35.
Someone told me that on this server, you can't charm mobs above level 40.
-> Beastcraft is most useless in high levels.
Are there any ambitions to change this?
If not, I'll respec. Just too bad about the class-defining beastcraft skill.

Well, thats the "classic DAoC" way which Uthgard follows.
At lvl50 a hunter is able to charm monsters up to 83% of
their lvl with the highest charming spell (lvl35). Because
DoL has no implemented monster-type system you are
able to charm every monster with the charm insect spell.

The advantage of charmed pets is that you can "hide" them
better of enemies ("oh look, casual monster") and that you
still have the instant wolf if your charmed pet dies.

On live servers an additional benefit is charming monsters
with special skills like heal/root/DD/and so on. Due to not
implemented monster-casts on DoL this benefit is non existant
on Uthgard.

With one of the latest patches on live server the hunter got his
beastcraft line buffed up giving him 2 additional instant pets at
lvl40 (lvl42 wolf) and lvl50 (lvl45 wolf) which have the ability to
disease your opponents. Currently there are many discussions
on several DAoC forums about the new hunter pets, because
many rate them as unbalanced due to their disease cast which
is casted at ranges up to 1500 enabling the hunter to kite his
opponents to death

Due to pets crossing walls I don't think this desease will be implemented in the next three years ^^

Thank you for the information.

But: I still have my instant wolf when my instant wolf dies ;)
And I have two single respecs left anyway... is it bugusing to use them above lvl 20/40?
