I am having trouble loading into the realm. I can log into the server and create a character but one I click play the game crashes and brings be back to my desktop. When this happens I do not get an error message. Thanks for any help.

I have the exact same problem. Browsed the forums, but found no information concerning this issue

Replaced the .dll file etc, everything works up until it starts loading my character(which I had successfully created after choosing my realm) into the game, and then it just crashes with a windows "send or not send" error report. Tried different .dll files and reinstalled the game, but still nothing.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

EDIT: PS! My retail version of the game works fine, the issue is related to private servers. As it also happened when I logged into other servers.

EDIT2: By the way I'm from Estonia and I saw some topics about us needing a specific patch. As it turns out it let's me play, but only as Hibernia. The patch would be awesome, tried finding it, but every link has been removed.

Could it be the issue that you try pic a class not valid for that Race?

Tried logging in as:

1) Norseman Skald
2) Norseman Berserker
3) Saracen Scout

So nope, that shouldn't be the problem. Problem is, that it doesn't load Albion & Midgard at all for me
There is a topic in this section of the forums about people from some parts of the world needing a fixed classic patch, that should be the case. But I don't see this patch anywhere anymore. All links have been removed months ago.

I am having the same issue, I cannot load Midgard at all, and havent tried the other realms. I can get to char select, and have tried numerous characters, but cannot load after I select, it doesnt even go to load screen. It freezes as though its going to load screen, then the game crashes.

one small idea: Try to run Daocportal with Administrator-rights or use a Windows-Admin-User to start it.

I confirmed I can load alb, but not mid. And I was playing mid yesterday with no changes whatsoever to the computer.

And finally, confirmed I cannot load Hib either.

try renaming your settings folder...

it should be something like "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\Dark Age of Camelot" rename it and run DAoC again. It will start up with default options for everything.

Resolved:

Issue was some nimrod installed software to use a Pen to draw on my machine in the office and was not aware of it. Removed that useless garbage and problem resolved.
