Hey guys,

Just to say, my girlfriend is trying to play Dark Age, she has a Sony Vaio with 2 GB of ram but a fairly weak gfx card. She is running Windows Vista (i know). I set Dark Age onto the simplest settings for highest framerate, and the game is unplayable because of how jittery the screen is.

I defragged the computer thoroughly, have enabled faster data caching, made sure she has all the updated graphics and memory drivers, and its still awful.

What can i do? Surely 2 GB of Ram is enough to run the game, even if the gfx is like 64-128 mb...

Thanks for anyone who can give us some advice!

Vista eats most of that away, so ur left with very little, and that gfx isnt a standalone is it ?
Basicly, get rid of vista, try under XP.

win7 is much better than vista and it eats less resources than vista.

There's a bunch of vista stuff that can be turned off. Look up turn-off-able stuff for vista and try that as well.

Hi guys, updated the system to windows 7 and tried altering the LargeCache on regedit from 0 to 1. Still no luck with framerate. Any other tips ? Plenty of HD memory and RAM, just terrible performance.

Thanks guys :)

Have you tried using classic skins in the DAoC client? that apparently makes a difference.

Yeah, I tried setting the characters to the oldschool look with 'Highest Framerate' setting enabled in the options menu, its very choppy when she logs in :/

you'll probably find that the gfx card doesn't have the right pixel shader version or some other thing you can do nothing about.

I used to have problems with micro stuttering that was down to the firewall software/AV software aggressively scanning every packet.

Do you have any of those running?
