DAOC Portal will not work for me.
I can run it just fine but it wont' let me update any mods, check for updates for the Portal itself, or even log into any of the servers it tells me the server is not compatible. I downloaded the latest version directly off this site's download link, I am on the admin account on my computer, and I've set the file path for the game. when i try to launch a game server it gives me the error http://i44.tinypic.com/iz5on5.jpg when i try to patch a mod i get the error http://i39.tinypic.com/u699j.jpg I have tried everything and don't know how to fix this. |

Try to run Caodportal as Admin.
Rightclick on Icon and run as Admin or so. |
Program Files in any version of windows above Vista is a protected folder, so in order to run Portal and install the mods, you need to run as Admin, as Gorim says.
I am the admin on the computer and its the only user account which is admin.
I checked the permissions on the file in properties to make sure and it says I'm both owner and admin. |
Right click the icon and then choose run as administrator. Being admin of the account isn't always a guarantee it will run as admin.

there is no option to run as admin cause I'm logged into the admin on the user accounts. |
My windows 7 64bit shows my account i'm using is set for administrator and i can right click choose run as administrator.

Yup, it normally should give you the option to run it as admin. However after I cleaned my PC it decided (for some reason) not to show this option anymore. I decided to put DAoCPortal somewhere else (in my case - documents) and out of nowhere the optio decided to show up again
![]() Just give it a try. |

i tend to create a folder called Games int eh root folder and install everything into there...
something like C:\Games or D:\Games or whatever, then move Portal and DAOC in there. You don't need to reinstall as neither the portal nor the DAOC client require correct registry entries to run. |
You have to browse to where you installed it (C:\Programs\Daoc - Portal for example) and right-click the daoc-portal exe. There you should be able to run it as admin
easiest to go to compatability tab in properties and click on run as admin, then apply, then click ok..
it will run as admin from now on.. i did that for allthe executables in the daoc portal installed folder. grum |
