Stealth Detection

Would someone please explain to me how stealth detection is calculated? I'm just curious because two fights in a row an NS opened on me so he OBVIOUSLY could see me but BOTH times i had zero detection until he actually hit me. I really want to know how this is implemented because atm its like some assassins have camo and never even show up on your screen until they hit you.

Same for me, and the SAME NS (gm can get name if they want)
Situation : Me (infi) him/her(NS) he attacks me with its instant dd and runs away. i follow him and he hides behind a tree. than i go stealth (distance was about 400 units, no lags). He/Her goes NOT in stealth => i eat a PA He/Her was not one ms visible, i could face him behind the tree ![]() and this happend 2 times 2 different players |

are u are not a dumb one, congratz ![]() edit: ah it looks like the stealth detection range is way higher if u stand still, if u move stealthed to someone you see him in you or already behind. if u make a test, both stealthed, one stand still, the other moves to his position (the mover knows the excat positin) and stop direct before him, he pops up about 0,5sec delay later xD 2nd edit: okay it seems to be laggy for many, many people teleported wild arround xD |

Stealth detection range is the same whether you are moving or standing still. The delay before the "pop" is the server updating your client with the stealther's position. There is a lag between when a stealther moves into your detection range and when the server sends this information to your client. When I had MoS 5 I was often detected by stealthers with MoS 3 because they would lag into my detection bubble before I could move away.

my experience is in assassin vs assassin , that if you stand still u can PA another with fast reaction. otherway arround its not possible cause u eat a PA or u see him popping already behind you and u have 2 pray he/she got very old n slow fingers ^^

I bet that its all in your head.
![]() If you are standing still, finger on the perf key (or even better: walking backwards) then the enemy should pop in front of you. You are mentally prepared for this, so it is a simple matter of pressing the key the moment you see the pop. If you are walking forwards, then (like you said) you could end up behind the enemy before you detect each other. Either way, lag decides how quickly you see your enemy when they are within detection range.

i made a (very small 2 min test so nothing confirming) test with mauriac
he stood still and i knew his position. than i walked towards him and stopped at the postion when i can see him. after all attemps the "result" was, that he saw me everytime earlier (infront) and i detected him way later ("inside" him or already behind him) this is what also matches what i saw on amg. normally at assa Vs assa both should be able to see eachother way better even its only a blink but atm it seems u got a "bonus" standing still. you get attacked and did not see any enemy or other way arround. and camouflage seems to deactivate "detect hidden" on uthgard (okay i dont even know or cant see it that detect hidden is implemented xD) and if a target is camouflaged and it goes straight for you, you see nothing. in my old memories the detection was "bigger" , maybe watch 8:50 of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RJXW-mZ ... re=related but im way to tired for playing on uthgard and to make any detections tests uth/pendra, here are so many bugs and devs dont wanna quote a passage out of the code ![]() and if old ra hits than pls watch 2:08 of the video ![]() this is the range of See Hidden (nerfed version already xD) it looks like death row at this scene ^^ |

Interesting. I've never read anything to suggest that detection range is smaller when moving. If I move parallel with a stealthed enemy that I have detected, my detection range is just as far as it is when I'm standing still. That to me is proof that detection range is not lower when moving.
Moving, for some reason, may increase the time it takes the server to update your client with a detected stealther's position. That's just my theory. Of course I could be wrong. ![]()
That's better than MoS 5 range.

well, if u "already" detected someone the bubble is bigger till he get out of it. like a hysteresis
but im talking about the detection how they pop out
well it was clipping range, when the nerfed it it was about 750-1200 (sorry dont know it really) ![]() ![]() |

This is, however, live like. At least from my experience from playing for 2 years a nightshade on classic server live. And I always hated it, because this awards people just caping on one position (which was in 99.999999999 % one of the bridges. ![]() ![]() |

How enjoyable do you think it is playing an archer when stuff like this is common?
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LR0NC0RI I stopped at that one run, because he had no idea I was around, and I would have ended on top of him before I had seen him ![]() It has nothing to do with standing still or moving. As you can see in the randomness, it is a server ping issue / lag. |
