I'm confused by this thread. If you want to play like Edgtho, watch his video, and follow these steps:

1. Farm a 200p template

2. Have 7 buffs running at all times (5 pots/charges)

3. Go full melee spec

4. Go full melee RA

Maybe you will win. Maybe you will lose. But what is so mysterious about Edgtho's play-style?

Now for a comparison:

Edgtho - 83k LWRP (#1 for Hunters)

There are 9 Rangers with higher LWRP than him.

Ronia - 83k

So, Edgtho is more succesful (wayyyyyyy better) than the highest RR ranger on Uthgard!

So what if Edgtho runs with an expensive template and lots of charges/barrels? I do the same on my ranger, and so does every other good solo ranger that plays frontier RvR (BG's LWRP's dont count). No rangers come in on cheap templates and no charges/barrels and has consistant success in frontier RvR. If they do then they are grouped. Also, if everyone would quit making it seem like rangers were so op'd (they are not till they get to higher RR) then maybe more people would make a hunter and you would have more people on there earning 80k+ in lwrp. You played a very good hunter Seyha, and had plenty of success. Fact is I may not be the best ranger in the game (not by a long shot, hehehe), but you (Seyha, Edgtho, Laya, and a couple others) have beat me many times and you (Seyha) were prolly the only one that was higher RR than me when we fought. Thats right, me, the op'd ranger WITH a higher RR loses to hunters. It happens....

You were right when you said you were confused by this thread. It wasnt about the "mystery" of Edgtho's spec, I was using Edgtho as an example of a hunter that is successful in RvR. I'm not saying hunter is an easy class to play, but if more came out and actually worked threw the rough parts (4L2-6L0) in RvR they are a very viable class. Yes, the pet dmg needs fixed, but they still perform well. Fought Laya the other day (7L2 hunter) and all 3 battles were very close and competitive. I won 2 of the 3, but in both of those fights that I won I had all my RA's up and still almost died. One of these days, when Zacknafein gets up over 9L0, I will make a hunter because I think they look like a fun class.

Also to counteract your comment about Edgtho being #1 hunter with 80k+ and 9 rangers having more than that- look at Bone Dancer. I realise its not a comparable class as far as style of fighting, but only 1 BD had over 61k for LWRP. Now using your logic that only 1 person (like Edgtho for hunter) had over 61k rps BD's must suck in RvR. Except, I seem to have been seeing a certain BD (Slina-Zai's BD 207,000) running around solo in Emain owning fools left and right. I guess my point is just because people dont play a class because they THINK its broke, does not mean it cant be a very viable and good class.

Zach, my post was not directed at you specifically. There was genuine confusion in this thread about how Sword spec Hunters could be better than Spear spec, and why Edgtho proves that Hunters aren't that bad and Rangers aren't OP.

To Edgtho's credit, he is the best built melee Hunter on the server in terms of template. He is 100% capped. He has the best charges on the server (str/con, 150mbh). He has the best 2hand available for Hunters, a 5.7 speed drop (Spears only go up to 5.5). Edgtho is also a good player with years of experience playing all kinds of classes, but especially Hunters and Rangers.

tl;dr Edgtho is mathematically the best melee-spec Hunter on the server right now, with the skill to back it up.

So what are the results?

80-90k LWRP. On a solo stealth class. Wow, what a successful toon!

And before you say "Well, Ronia only has..." I've played here long enough to know that Ronia can easily make 200k if he wants. BTW I AM ALSO A HUGE NERD LOL.

LWRP is not a perfect way to measure class balance, but when you understand the context behind the numbers it is a very useful statistic.

ah yeah i didnt find this vid but u see mythic balanced many things and hunter changes impact hard

I have no idea what is going on in those videos, but I did notice that the Hunter is almost never blocked, evaded, or parried...

You don't need to give the Hunter a stupidly OP pet for it to be balanced on Uthgard. You need to fix how defense works.

well after reading all of that... and after I find no response from the GMS... ****** it! I'll just quit playing my hunter...
