Hello,

It seems this has problem has happened for other people, but I've read the forums and can't find a solution. I am able to connect and play just fine on my mac (partitioned windows mode), but my desktop is a better quality computer with Windows 7 instead of XP. My friend plays on Windows 7 just fine. I can log in. See my character. Click play, and as soon as I enter the game (or sometimes immediately before the loading bar finishes) my computer freezes and I have to restart.

I've run daoc portal and daoc from both the C drive (which I've installed and reinstalled numerous times) AND I tried to run it from an external. The same thing happened with both, even when I was running the same exact files (from external) that worked on the laptop.

I can run other games (League of Legends, Age of Empires, etc.) just fine on this computer. Does anyone have ANY other suggestions? It seems like it's staring me in the face.

Truly hoping to join the community here. Excited to return to the game.

go with the usual checks first

Update Graphics and Sound card drivers
check in Event Viewer for any Application errors
check the "errorlog.txt" file for any clues; this is located in your game folder.

No dice. Seems to be a memory dump issue. Getting blue screen and frozen comp. Friend thinks it might be because I don't have enough ram to properly run Windows 7 & the game. Bleh.

memory dumps are usually caused by a faulty driver.

You could take the minidump file and run it through the "Debugger Tools For Windows" or WinDBG program to see where the faulting module is.

It would give you an idea of what you need to do to resolve it.
