hey there,

iirc blue wrote somewhere, that there's 2 LoS checks when sending a pet for "go target" or "attack"...one for the pet-owner and one for the pet..

just wanted to know why both checks are necessary...i cant say which one is "better" and the livelike-version without any LoS at all is not possible without good pathing so: Why not just use 1 LoS check instead? either the pet holder' or the pet's LoS should be used but both just doesn't make sense...

some comments from the staff would be nice ;)

LOS check is needed as you could send your pet into a closed keep just by having your enemy in your target once. We have no pathing alogorithm for pets.

See this change:

- Change: Pet commands "Goto target" and "Attack" are possible without line of sight outside of RvR zones

i know, but i wanna know, why both pet holder AND pet LoS is used...why not only pet LoS OR pet owner LoS? it just doesn't make sense to do the LoS-check twice...

thought about it once more, and i think player-LoS would be more sensible:

1. because players could go near a wall or door of a keep, cast the pet "into" the keep and click attack, if pet-LoS was used
2. sometimes, e.g. on milegates the player. is on the wall, while the pet is below (even though "follow"-mode is used)...using pet-LoS would be pretty bad if the player would use "attack" on an enemy right in front of him (on the wall as well)...pet would not see the target then

why are there 2 checks anyway? i mean i perfectly understand one of both, but why both? ;)

i just can repeat my self over and over - pet usage is quite broken here :D i can fully understand that you are trying to keep pet using classes from bugabusing but it really often leeds to situations where you should be able to send you pet on some one but it is not possible :D

Image

that minstrel stunned me and was afterwards killed by the hero in my group a few steps away and i was unable to send my pet on him as it was unable to see the target (because of facing the wrong direction ? no clue...)
