See the title. Are there any tests that prove DW/LA reduces evade rates by half?

I remember, BACK IN TH'DAY, common knowledge seemed to be that the off-hand weapon was counted as a second attacker, and that was where the "bonus" came from.

So DW/LA evade penalty = the multiple attacker penalty.

I also remember 25% being thrown around as a possible number.

Mythic never says in any of the grab bags or patch notes how much DW/LA actually reduces evade rate by. So if you think that DW/LA should reduce evade by half, please give your source.

Just one of those things that cannot be proven beyond a resonable doubt.

Imagine now that we went OF RAs... :wall: :gaga:

Dual wielders throw an extra wrinkle in. You have half the chance of shield blocking a dual wielder as you do a player using only one weapon. Your chance to parry is halved if you are facing a two handed weapon, as opposed to a one handed weapon.

plus i have found this

Q: Why is evade not affected by either dual wielders or large weapons when block and parry take penalties against them?

A: It was a design choice; not right or wrong, just evade is not included in the calculating formulas.

source grab bag

which is contradicting to this:

Evade

- A character's chance to evade will no longer be penalized when facing a character who is dual wielding.

Evade and shield was halfed by DW/LA
Parry was halfed by two-hand

That was always the case, as long as I can remeber ;)

Thx Einsisferum, that patch 1.87 shows how some of the penalities were taken down .. seems parry had a big penality VS multiple attackers also :).

There are lots of myths in DAoC that are accepted as fact without proof. Is this one of them?

I'm sure there are still people around who believe that if a player repairs your gear it will preserve condition longer. I don't know if it's supposed to be a joke in the Tajendi tip file that it says that it actually does on Uthgard or not, but it was a myth on live that was so pervasive that they had to add it to the tip file (and still didn't get rid of it completely).

Remember all of the theories about what would cause the dragon to wipe raids? If I had a gold for every cockamamie theory I heard...

Every MMO is filled with myths like this. This one just seems to have a lot more PvP related myths.
