I think it would be very useful if Uthgard had its own Test server, kinda like lives pendragon. With instent levels, test dummys and anything else to aid players in testing a bug they think is going on with a class they encounter or there own classes. Having instent lvls, default cap gear, free respecs and anything else, would make it much easyer to tests bugs , instead of making bug reports claiming, well that enemy class did something wrong, when they can just go and test it themself, and makes comparing things to live proof or pendragon much easyer.

But only if this is possible to do. And you can make this server limited for only testing and all accounts get deleted after x number adays and will only be used for testing. If this is possible to do, it could possible increase the quality of players bug reports, and aiding the community on contributing more useful bug reports. Alot of players would report positive bug reports for there own classes, as they have that class and notice them, but may choose not to report the negitive ones, that they may know is a bug or dont know. But with a test server, it allows anyone to make any realm char to test a suspecion.

I cant say if it's possible but i can say it's a great idea.

I dont want to create any excuse for bug abusers but some "negative bugs" are not tested because it requires too much effort (like spending 4k bps for 2 respecs as example).

This test server could be resitricted to lets say 2-3 zones (city + 1/2 realm zones) so everyone can easly test anything he/she needs. It would also prevent ppl from creating chars only to do RvR ^^. Also a small players cap (maybe 20?) could be usefull.

As i thought it over, this server would need a BG or something like that to check RvR-related bugs. So dunno how to prevent ppl from doing "real" RvR...

Flag server as pvp, every new char ported into same safezone for all realms only, and only duels could be allowed, with strict access, which means, youve got to ask a gm/dev to allow you to get on that server with a good reason to do so. PW of those accounts should change every 2-3 days to avoid exploits.

what could be done is using the tutorial zone

simply make it so that there is no porters in there and make it so that players can chose to go tutorial mode and by doing so their new toon is created in this zone instead of normal starting zones..

Good Idea Nix , this way you dont need another server. But when you create a char, isnt the tutoral enabled by default ? Or are you talking about when you start in game, it will ask you something like " Is this a test char ? " with all the info on the restrictions.

What ever it is setup, will have to make sure its secure, so normal players dont go there, to get free respecs and what ever else.

simply make an NPC in TNN/jord/camelot saying something like:

Hello, have you heard about the Uthgard test area?

info info info info info info

Do you want to [port] to this area? remember entering this area means that your character will have no way of returning to the normal world of Uthgard

and on pressing port it check:

does the character have any xp, money or anything else a 100% clean new char wouldn't have..

and if it has return with something like:

Sorry we can not port you as you have already achieved something in game, either getting gold, xp, or the like.. please create a new character for testing purpose

and if it hasn't return with a port to the tutorial zone which has no porters, etc. and ofc. on this port it changes the bind spot for the character too to inside the tutorial zone..

ya that sounds like a good idea. Basicly this porter to the test zone should only work on lvl 1 players, because they can be made , ported and instent leveled for testing. Also avoids higher lvl players saying they went there by accedent, with such requirements as you discribed.

And in this zone, should have more advanced test dummies, like some that say above them. Armor type, absorb, af, resists , stuff like that to make sure the player testing vs it, will have currect info. Also the normal test dummies in the cities are classified as mobs, since you can get crits higher then 50%, last i checked, which could effect some tests. There also needs to be hit back dummies too.

Anything and everything the staff can make, that they think would aid in player testing.

also dont forget the trainers, for specing and respecing in tests, and its best to have the same DF merchents from live pendragon and access to such items to make the best comparisons to live testing, for those things that you can compare to live. Only problem with that is some of those live df items may have higher qual or something diff , compared to uthgard. So may not be able to directly copy the df merchants to this zone, may have to create like Test Zone DF gear to compare to lives gear.
