I think it would be nice , if a buy now feature could be added to the Auction halls, if that is possible. Sometimes people just want to buy something right then and there and may not want to seek out a crafter, and crafters or just anyone, my want to sell there items quicker by this way. This way you can buy it now for a higher price, or wait on a longer bid for it to be cheaper.

Maybe change the way you add items to the AH, like

/offer [bid duration] [min bid] [buy out amount]

then if possible in the AH display current bid and buy out cost. and you can do /bid or /buyout to bid or buyout an item.

I've been hoping this would be done eventually too, for one simple reason:

Alchemists could craft pots and put them on the merchants and actually make some money doing it - and people could buy pots without having to wait several days and hope they're not outbid (or without having to beg and plead with an alchemist friend to make yet another barrel of (whatever)). Win/Win.
