Could be a nice feature, smells a bit like WoW, though. :P
It could help shut up the:
"Tank lfg"
"Group lf tank"
"Tank lfg"
"Group lf tank"
...-spam.

Though it would be a pain to implement, and another custom feature.
Don't see it happening, really.

Ehm my dear Alb friend, the LFG option was a classic feature of DAoC even before WoW launched.

Know your basics please... It wouldn't be custom, the /lfg channel is in fact custom.

This is the stupidest comment on custom changes I have ever seen. And I have really seen a lot of them.

There are of course plans to implement the lfg window, but that's not so easy. If I remember correctly, /lfg is shown to everyone who does not con grey or purple to yourself.

It indeed had, from day 1. If I remember correctly it even was in the closed beta but I am not sure about that.

Such features often fail to be effective. Announcing lfg in a chat channel is the best way in all MMORPG. But it could help on Uth if the lfg channel is spammed.

i started playing a month after launch the lfg channel was used a lot but year later no one used it after lot of us hit 50 in that time period. otherwise you just grouped with guildies or alliance members and forgot all about the /lfg tag and screen.

I myself used in the classic times and it often was helpful. In my opinion a good implementation will make it work fine. :)

For example:

Everybody that wants to be listed just switches on a flag with /lfgflag on or something like that. Afterwards his char will be listed in the lfg-list with name, level, profession and location.

Now if you want to find somebody to group with you just open the lfg-window and see everybody listed that 1) is neither grey nor purple to you AND 2) has its lfgflag on.

If you implement it like that it should work out pretty fine especially for the newcomers because the players themselves do not have to do more than either open the lfg-window or set their lfgflag.

i used that feature exensivly and miss it since i started here.
im was honestly surprised when i learned that this shard is so old and still doesnt have vital realm features (in my opinion) - lfg window and /area chat^^

it was heavily used until everyone had a BB and wasnt used anymore once you could have mana fountains.

and while it was used, there was always someone listed to group with in there, even with /who = 50.

example:
you have exp/rvr group going.
the healer leaves in half an hour.
you set the flag as looking for healer (lvl) (for pve/rvr) (no end).
and let it run.

any healer in the level range you specified tah topens his lfg window see that your group is looking for a healer and for what/how long and he can directly send the groupleader.

done.

you are running around solo.
now rather then spamming the lfg constanly you just set your flag on (lfg) (pve/rvr) (time) and any groupleader can see you in the group window.

personally checking every level range, every zone with /who and then send every potential player / spamming lfg all day really gets to me after a year and lately i either farm cash until someone looks for a tank for rvr or i run around in thid.
farmspots camped by animists, thid empty -> log out.

i have plenty of groupchars over all level ranges, but finding groups that actually fit your level range, do something prductive AND look for JUST the char you have is just damn annoying.

and that has nothing to do with player numbers. so dont start on that^^
on the contratery, especially with low player numbers finding matchups is alot easiervia the lfg window and per /who and /send - or /lfg spam.

Well at least in Uthgard its shown to +/- 15 levels, no matter what level you are. So a lvl 20 can read lvl 5 lfg-spam.

As I remember it the LFG-window was always there. Problem was that it was bugged: When you got into a group and UNflagged [lfg] it would NOT unflag you at all. And getting tells all the time when you are in your group and in combat was so highly annoying that everybody steered away from the feature.

Years later that behaviour was fixed but it was not embraced by the general public anymore.
