Slow or fast weapons, what's best?
I've read that a fast off-hand/slow main-hand will increase the speed of the main-hand. But, I have also read that a slow off-hand/fast main-hand will increase the chance of the off-hand hitting. How does it work? |

Unless this has been changed here, your effective weapon speed will be (righthand+lefthand) / 2. A fast offhand will therefore increase your attack speed, that's correct.
Never heard of anything like that. |

Alright, thanks!
Well, I think it was something like: Since the off-hand has a chance to swing every time the main hand swings, a faster main hand would increase the chance of the off-hand swinging. But this would only work if the off-hand speed was ignored in the overall swing speed. |

well if you REALLY want to know how fast you will attack with any given weapon on main, off or dual hit, do the math.
this is the live formula, dont see a reason why it should be different here: Effective Speed = SPD * ( 1 - ( Quickness - 60 ) / 500 ) * ( 1 - Haste% ) do this for both weapons for single hits or add main and off / 2 for dual hits. slower with huge frontload, but big delays and long pause times with miss/fumble etc or faster with lower frontload but more hits over time, thats up for choice. depends on your style of play really. if your only running assist you might consider going slower, if you solo a lot and run into lots of high speed DW users your long attack delays will kill you. personally i figure as long as i can get my styles working its ok. eg if your only stun is a reactive 3 second one and your delay is higehr then 3 seconds, you will never have any benefit from it since you cant use it for a positional etc. youll figure it out. |

If you double hit the swing speed is the average of both weapons. So if you use a slow main hand and fast off hand then you will get a haste effect when you double swing. LA gets haste effect 100% of the time, CD/DW gets it to a lesser extent since you do not always double swing.
If you do non styled attacks you have a chance to swing with either weapon or both. If you swing only 1 you will use the delay of that weapon. If you swing both weapons then you use the average of the delays of both weapons. When you use styles it is the same thing but if you don't double swing then the attack will always come from the main hand. So you only really get a haste "bonus" when you use styles because style bonus is added to the slow main hand and is based on its delay, but you have a good chance to use the faster delay. |
