I recently installed DAoC and did the necessary things to play on Uthgard. I make it to the character selection screen and make a character. When I enter the game I am almost instantly LD or I suffer about 10 seconds of unplayable lag and then I am LD. I have opened all my ports, checked my firewall, reinstalled, and just about anything else.

This is different from all the other LD forum posts because they can actually enter the game with seemingly no lag. I, however, can do nothing.

Edit: Also, I have tried other servers, and I get the same thing.

uhm... that's quite odd.
Although you said you reinstalled everything, I would suggest
- update windows, or maybe reinstall it
- make sure the system runs fine with other games (i.e. exclude that your hardware is malfunctioning)
- make sure you have the latest drivers (incl. direct x)
- any virus scanners running in the background that you could de-activate?
- any odd UI installed? Some UI versions may not be compatible with the server version and can cause you to crash and whatnot.
- it could be your daoc (as unlikely as that is) - personally, I downloaded the version from the DOL website, maybe you could try that.

What's your system specs?

Windows is updated and all my other games run fine. I have no virus scanners running. All I have is avast, and I have already determined that it isn't the problem. How do I know what UI I have installed? I installed my DAoC from the minotaur link the the getting started tutorial post.

As for system specs:
Fata1ity A9 32X Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.01 GHz
NVIDIA 8800 GT graphics card
294g free on hard drive
2.0g of RAM

If it was an UI problem, the client would crash instantly as soon as he tried to enter the game. But instead of that he has a lag and goes ld then. Hm.
Maybe its some kind of MTU-packetsize problem?

Just to make sure - your daoc client is version 1.91 EU?

are we talking about connection lag - ie nothing responds or takes forever - or is your frame rate clearly lagging? That may then be a driver, daoc version or else hardware related issue. But diagnostics is quite difficult, especially since your other games appear to run just fine.

Except if it was graphics lag, why would I get LD? I don't know if this matters, but when my friend saw me in game for one of my lag periods, to him, I looked just fine. I was just spinning around, because I was holding down a turn button.

Yes I have EU v 1.91. I guess it should be noted that when I start the game, the music is lagging as well. Just a little bit though. And in the Character Selection Screen, there is a slight lag in my characters animation.

If it were any kind of driver problem, what drivers would be the ones that need fixed?

Edit: Huh. Problem seems to have fixed itself. Weird :D

Thats why your going LD.. you have version 1.91... try running the original Camelot.exe and patching to 1.95.... You Don`t have system problems the server itself kicks you offline after 180 seconds as your client is out of date

Run Camelot.exe and upgrade to patch 1.95
Then try running the game again
