Hi, I have been having bad lag spikes for the past 3-4 days. My lag is at yellow and every min or so will turn to red for about 5 secs.

I wont LD but every min or so, I would lag for about 5secs. I tried to ping uthgard.game-server.cc and received 100% packet loss.

I am running vista btw with broadband connection.

Anybody experienced this before? What steps did u take to solve this problem?

Thanks!

best bet is to make sure you have no background programs running that are known to hog bandwidth like Limewire, torrents, etc.

The only time I have had those issues is when i did not realize another program was hogging the bandwidth. Of course other users sharing your connection could be causing you these problems too, so make sure they aren't hogging up the line.

i keep going LD or having huge lags, even changed ISP with a cousin, so i searched in mythic support, and as they suggested downloaded Spybot and Ping'plotter freesoftware, the results from pingpltter took me to this:

Knowledgebase Top : PingPlotter : Usage

Destination Unreachable

Question

Why do traces to some sites always return "Destination Address Unreachable". I can connect to that site fine with Internet Explorer or Netscape!

Answer

One of the routers used between you and the destination site is not passing through ICMP echo requests, or one of the routers is not allowing ICMP TTL Expired packets to return.

Some sites, for security reasons, have their firewalls setup to not echo back ICMP packets so they can appear "invisible" to automated hacker scanning tools.

You might try switching PingPlotter to UDP or TCP packets to see if the site works with those (Standard or Pro editions only).

This is sometimes a temporary situation (where the site is currently experiencing high ICMP load from a recent attack or similar). If this site is important to you, you might contact the administrator of that site to find out if it's a permanent condition.

If *none* of the hops are responding, then it could be your local machine's firewall that's blocking this. Try disabling your software firewall (make sure you take adequate precautions to protect your machine during this time), and if that helps, then check the settings for your firewall to see if it's set to block ICMP echo requests, ICMP echo replies, or ICMP TTL Expired packets.

If the Destination Address Unreachable is happening at hop 1 or 2 (or some other router that seems to be owned by your ISP), then this might indicate that it's *YOUR* ISP that is causing this (or a local firewall). Once you've eliminated your firewall as a possible problem, try contacting your ISP to see if there's anything you can do to change this behavior.

now i dont know whats the next step :?:

im not on a shared line, not even through a router, im running windows xp, AMD turion 64 mobile, 1,79 GHz, 876 MB Ram.

i noticed that when i dont have any lags the game is consuming about 600 MB ram and the processor its at 30%, and when i get the heavy lags the processor goes to 100% usage and the ram to 800 MB.

Hope someone can give me/us some pointers!

thx in advance

2 Different cases, 2 Different locations. Both since the server crash, oh, I remind you, there was already another post about this, here.

Seems the server DID cause it for some people. We fixed, while server was down rebooting, we had the guy with the problem Uninstall, Reinstall, Update.

for some reason sometimes when i log on i start flickering and everytime i move i flicker and it becomes very hard to move left or right because it won't let me go left or right and i usually end up going linkdead. nothing is wrong with my graphics card and everything else is fine and usually other games on my computer work fine and have no problems with them but daoc i go linkdead. i wonder why this is? nothings wrong with my connection. i have no viruses or anything like that i make sure im using the right patch version for daoc portal. i wonder whats wrong?
