This is not a whine thread, i am just trying to get ideas how to improve my Ranger.

Problem: I get a lot of Damage from poisons and die a lot to Poisons, most of the time in fight, sometimes after i killed the Assasin.

I have all stats, skills and resists capped, i use charges and potions, mostly haste (charge), str/con (Potion for +30 only, because i could not get my hand on a +75 Charge now, seems hard to get in Hibernia) and endurance Potion and i have purge and IP. Using Purge results in the Assasin getting a new weapon and poison me again and purge is wasted and cannot be used anymore to get rid of a stun and IP is now only at level 1 an heals 280 HP (Yes, i am saving for level2 here).
The Poison hits me 6 times for 120 on capped resists and sometimes i get an addidtional bleed for 20 and a stacking proc poison (6*46 last time i noticed) on top of that.

Can anyone help me out with an idea how to improve my performance?

Yeah, thanks, i have PD2 now, will get more when i get points, but i am saving for IP2 now.
I was just wondering if there was something i could do against poison damage, other than capping my resists, which i already did.

The only way to improve your defense further vs poison would be toughness/ip.

PD is really good to reduce the melee damage of assasins. But Viper hurts more :?

Yes, viper hurts more.

If there is no way to further reduce the poison damage, i will have to go the "more HP" way with con, tough and IP.

pd doesn´t really help either. just the melee component getting reduced - main damage still coming from the dots.

avoidance of magic would be the only thing i can think of to reduce the damage taken . there is really no way to prevent a next dot.

kinda f*cked up that you can´t do anything against it.

stopped playing my sb a long time ago because of this - it has nothing to do with skill to switch weapons every hit . can even kill people with flowers like that.

hi,

but avoidance of magic shouldn't effect dots although its body-dmg.

i dont know exactly how it works, but i think theres now way to avoid the dot. (if avoidance of magic would work, how is it with "the empty mind" ?)

edit: cause this is actually a german forum section :P i post some links that i found (so in german)

http://de.daocpedia.eu/index.php/Vermeidung_der_Magie
http://de.daocpedia.eu/index.php/Der_leere_Geist

so if you take a look at the last link, you'll see no restrictions for dots, so maybe it could work with "the empty mind"

Actually Purge works very well. It is not as easy to reaply poison as it used to be. You must manually switch weapons instead of Quickkeys. This is why I think Poison is not as bad as before.

You also must be the appropiate level to use a poison. Before you could be 40 and have 40 poison + bonus to reach 50 in Poison skill. Then you had level 40 assassins using 50th poisons.

An average Assassin will apply 2 or 3 different poisons on you within 5 seconds. Purge will strip them all. It will take him about 3 seconds to rearm a new weapon and use the mouse but that is after he has figured out you purged it. That means he will have to pick which poison. Dot or Des or Con or snare. Most fights are over in 20 seconds. The time he is using to rearm then he is not using styles.

In my opinion. Get body resists maxed and get Purge 2. You will have a advantage then. You may kill the Assassin but the poison may kill you after the fight. Invest in pots,HoT charge,IP or first aid. Although I dont know if you can use first aid while a dot is on you :( It would be nice if it did. That would certainly make more people take it and would balance Viper with other players.

Switchting weapons doesn´t take 3 seks o_0.And seeing that you purged is done by:oh,looky looky,PURGE ANIMATION.And the only Poison you need is the DoT poison anyways ^^
