Just wondering...how are you liking things at this point? I have not ran across many 50s...

The ranger class is my 1st love but I was disappointed with their effectiveness as I tested during the Beta so decided not to roll one.

Just curious on the current sentiment.

Howdy,
Bow dmg is not as good as it was on uth1 from my tests.
Example:
Full buffed 306dex,45bow+12,5.5s 99% recurve bow and target was shamy. Critshoted him for 375 dmg then later for 445dmg, normal shot were around 200-250dmg(And yes i used correct arrows vs mid chain ^^ )
But there is already in issue tracker some issues about bow dmg/speed so hopefully it will be fixed in nearly future =)

So kinda now i recommend to go hybrid spec instead og pure sniper ;)
/cheers

Loving RvR.

Loads of solo action out. Good 1v1's.
You need some toys, and know how to play ranger (i.e. don't just simple hack into your enemy).

Against other stealthers you have a really great chance of winning. Especially with TS up (learn how to use it, it's not just simple pop 'n pew pew)

Avoid anything with a shield though. Oh and healers who run outside svasud just to insta mezz you and call for help :D

When I was in beta I tried to focus on down range damage fast...for what it is worth I went with...

Long Wind 1: To me this is a not brainer. 1 realm point, when paired with a strong endo potion you can perma-sprint without losing endo. Just too good for 1 point

Master of Archery: Faster shots = higher dps...'nuff said
Falcon Eye: More crits...big crits often will decide whether you get the kill or not...
Aug Dex: Increase dmg for both bow and thrust dmg
Purge: Takes a while to get the points but if you get QC mezzed or rooted, or poisoned this is a life saver.
True Sight: This is nifty to see through stealth but it is on a long timer and I'm not sure what the stealther population is these days. During beta I would often never find anyone even at hot spots like AMG in emain. Now I suspect there would be a lot more targets.
Dodger: Nice to have if you are a melee ranger.

there arent many ranger outside...

how is the situation? is it worth to play a ranger?

how will the ranger be with a s/c charge item from si compared to a ns?

is there still a problem to fight a caster?

There aren't many rangers because we don't do so well.

Tonight I shot a caster for 219 with a 99% qua 5.5s recurve.

I was then interrupted by a mincer stun shout, followed by 171damage and 168damage DD shouts. I have max Body resist.

Frustrating doesn't begin to describe how ****** things are right now. No wonder so many people gave up & quit.

Does anyone know for sure how the stealth detection is working? I assumed (yea I know) that a 47 ranger with 47 stealth composite and camo up would not be seen first by a L43 assassin class.

Considering most assassin classes auto train stealth to 48 this seems a bit off even for 1.65.

thanks

I tested stealth on my hunter. They assassin classes see you quite a ways out. Always see you first.

Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them.

Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs.

Apparently see hidden doubles sight. So if first 200 range then with see hidden400 range.
We found that 35+13 vs 35+15 matters arround 250 units.

We also tested 50+15 vs 35+15 and it die matter! About 100 units so allot of points for fee units
Without camo range of see hidden is vs 50 effectieve stealth about 600 units.
With camo 300.

When lower stealth like minstrels range goes up to 1200

For non stealthers, they can spot a stealther wat to easy. Especially when no 50 effective stealth.
And i mean: run mach 5 and see stealther without problems..

As a level 40 infil I was shot for 400-600 damage by a hunter 50.
Which I guess means that AF matters a lot. Also a caster with basic AF buff self (+250AF if not more) would have the same AF as a non-cloth wearer, the only thing that he doesnt have is the absorb.
If I would have been 50 cloth wearer he should have hit me for:
400*0.80*0.90=288 to 432 without proc without crit
It would seem reasonable but hitting for 219 definetly seems off.
Are you at least 50 in bow? if you are not 50/51 in bow (composite skill) then you just reduce your bow damage right off the bat

0-2/3 of level, damage is 25%-75% to 125%
Minimum Damage ramps from 25% at 0 spec to 75% at 2/3 spec.
Maximum Damage is constant at 125% from 0 to 2/3 spec.
2/3 of level to level, damage is 75%-100% to 125-150%
Minimum Damage ramps from 75% at 2/3 spec to 100% at 1/1 spec.
Maximum Damage ramps from 125% at 2/3 spec to 150% at 1/1 spec.

So if you got 50 composite skill at level 50 you hit for 100% to 125-150% damage
With 49 composite skill at level 50 you hit for 98.5% to 148.5%
At 35+11=46 composite you would hit for 94% to 144% damage

Obviously your base damage is also lower proportionally to your skill, hence it means that your min max damage is highly affected by your bow skill.
So don't expect to do much damage with bow with low bow skill (30 or 35 raw)
I would expect bow dps at 50+16 compared to 30+16 reduces your weaponskill by around 12% with a damage table of 22 with bow it should impact the damage modifier by 12%*2.2=26.4%
288*0.736=212

So maybe you had only around 50 composite in bow and you hit a minimum damage roll.

Would do tests if i had a high level bowman with lots of money.
Reminder to Self: Quality over Quantity, what is the Value here?

bow dmg are crazy, there are some classess that take insane low dmg, for example mages, and chain euipped :D
usually sb infs scounts and hunter take normal dmg, there must be something ****** up with armortypes or abs calculations, since the archery is not a major fixing aim for the staff i suggest to not wate time on ranger, and if you want play the ranger just keep reroll a BG ranger.
personally i don't wante to waste time on buggard, and i dont want to wait for fix to get some satisfaction, so i play occasionally with xox.

How about you research and find the bug so we can fix it instead of calling us buggard?
Got any questions? Submit them to me and I will try to get them answered in our grab bag !

Wow... sometimes it's best to just STFU than to call out your customer. Just chill, dude. We want to play a game, is all.

no test server = no research :hammer:

issue ticket number is 3471 for wrong bow behaviour dex/qui in calculation. Testing with crossbow on live doesnt help, cause its STR related...

And that the absorb of caster is somehow wrong: explain us, why we hit caster with 10% absorb for less, than harder armored?
