somebody tried both?

Norse has better damage output, but less chance to evade and easier to see due to size.

Norseman > Valkyn > Kobold
if you really want an alternative to norseman, valkyn is the race to take. Stats are comparable to Kobold but you have very useful resistances (5% body, 2/3% thrust/slash). |

As buffbots are not allowed now id suggest norse because of that extra strength and dps. If buffs are included then aslong as your character can reach 350 str which kobolds wont that will be a huge problem for damage output.
