You can check out the starting stats of the races in a charbuilder. I would definitely go for a small kobold. The smaller you are, the longer it may potentially take enemies to see you/target you/guard other players against your attack.

The troll will do a little more damage but the kobold will have better defenses. Smaller stature = harder to target as well which isn't a big deal but a nice bonus.
