I am transferring to Albion from Mid since I want a change and my realm transfer timer is up. I rolled a warrior but had a hard time finding groups once I got to about lvl 25, so I wanted to try a class that is better solo. And has speed.

I was thinking about rolling a sorc. My question is: Is there a guide online, or can anyone post a short guide here, about what pets are the best to charm for leveling/where to find them? I don't remember Albion very well. I had a 50 mercenary back in the day (meaning 2001-2002) but I can't remember much about Albion except for Camelot Hills and killing pygmy goblins till 4am over, and over, and over again.

Thanks for any help. Or, if you want to talk me out of rolling a sorc, feel free!

This is a good start: http://daocinfo.awardspace.com/guides/class/mages/sorc/pet_guide_classic.htm

Specifically / In addition:
Devout Filidh You can find these in almost every low level zone except Avalon Marsh. They heal very well.
Goblin Magician A few in Camp. Forest I think this has a fireball, I think they are around 10-12.
Ghostly Cleric They are in a camp with some undead paladins west of Cornwall Station and they heal as well. I think they're around lvl 12.
Muryan(non-trickster) Found in Cornwall around level 20ish, may cast a buff besides AF and heals.
Arawnite Shamaness Found in Snowdonia and near the entrance of Lyonesse. These cast several buffs (haste, str, con, af?), heal and use a DoT. Very nice for groups. Has limited conc, so its better if the casters in the grp cancel their haste out of range so it buffs others. Level 34-36.
Ellyll Windchaser In Snowdonia, Pennine but mostly you will use this in Llyn Barfog. It casts an aoe spirit DD and also heals. Level 46-48 I think.
Nezix - 50 Minstrel <The Band>

Merlin: Arthur, what is best in life?
Arthur: To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their Lurikeens.

When you get to Llyn, the Elyll Sage casts fire bolts. A lot of them. So if you're in a group and don't need the pet heal, consider that also.

Hi guys,

thanks for this thread. It's been very helpful.

I had a question though, does anyone know if theres any charmmable mobs in Alb mainland, or any frontier zone, that casts str/con and dex/qui, or acuity?

Only one I could find that does spec buffs is the Priestess in Barrows. Pretty neat, but since you can't take her out of the Barrows its not too useful.

Finally, just wanted to add the isolationist camp as another good source of pets. They are just Southeast of Berkstead. The Cleric casts red base dex buff and heals, the sorcerer casts confuse and mez. I haven't tried the wizard, but I'd say its a safe bet that it nukes. There's some other classes too. They go yellow at 46.

Bolt around 300 on a yellow mob, at bolt range. (only once every 10/15 sec)
Then ice dd around 200 on a yellow mob, at dd range.

Cast pretty fast, but still limited, cleric is a better pet (dext buff & heals & nuke [very fast nuke but low damage]).
