Hi guys :) I'm currently lvl 36 Paladin on BETA (Paco is my name, for those of you who might have seen me), and I decided to go full 2H on my character, non-negotiable.

But still, I was wondering, what's the best spec and how can I allocate my points ?

Here's the four templates I was thinking of : 2H/Chants/Slash/Parry, knowing that I autotrain Slash and have 77 bonus points.

50/46/37/0
50/42/39/13
44/46/39/19
44/42/39/27

And here's a list of questions :

1) Is the difference between red add damage and yellow add damage worth the extra points ? (42->46)
2) How useful is the Parry, both in pve and rvr ?
3) Do I deal more damage with 50 2H, 50+11 2H, 44+6 2H or 44+11 2H ?

Don't debate on whether or not I should use a 2H spec on Uthgard please, I know it's not the most efficient way to play Paladin but that's not the point here :)
Thanks guys, waiting forward to read your thoughts on this.

Might want to consider chants to 48. If you insist on being 2h, you WILL need the high AF chant. Also, fully autotrain if you can. Slash and chants. Your starter spec should look something like 502h, 48 chants, 36 slash, 13 parry. As you gain RR drop the slash for more parry but keep composite 50 slash.

I don't think i'll be able to AT chants, I'm currently playing with melee xp group and they'll kill me if they don't get their endu chant :D

As for the AF chant, I forgot to mention that I play with an armsman who's using a shield (good guy armsman), and he's probably going to be our main tank anyway.
I guess yellow AF will have to do.

But thanks for your insight.

Because my friends wanted to play melee in RvR, and nobody wanted to be the endo bot, so i said "I'll do it, but on one condition : 2H Paladin ******".

i like the concept. unorthodox and fun.
id go Highlander 15 Str 10 Qui

AT Chants till 28 (you can get there quickly, AT chants till 28 is rly no biggie) and AT slash till 40 (respec from crush at 40)

46 Chants (red DA, elemental resi chant, red endu yada yada)
50 2h
35 Slash
12 Parry (id never go below 10 parry...its just too point efficient. especially on 2h)

have fun and see you on in the frontiers :)

I've always gone full shield at 40 and let slash full autotrain. You have enrage via AT at that point and can just spam it to maintain aggro (with chants). I've never been 2h for leveling. Only at 50

Ok :)
(This is the only viable answer tbh ^^ with the "Because i like it" ofc :D)

Yes, with the 1k range, the most efficient Paladin in a melee focused group is a 2handed Paladin to stick on the Assist Train :D

Love the idea mate, hope it'll turn out great :) As Casiii pointed out, who knows; with the 1k range, the most efficient Paladin in a melee focused group might just be as a 2h, part of the A-train :)

Here's how I would spec personally:

48 Chants, 44 2h, 38 Slash, 19 Parry

And once you are past RR5 (should your adventure take you this far):

48 Chants, 50 2h, 34 Slash, 11 Parry

* These numbers are with 131 AT-points. That's AT'ing Slash to 48 and Chants to 40. Should you not want to AT for that long, then (of course) take the points from slash and parry, as the 48Chants/44-50 2h is the very basic for the build.

..Happy hunting

Plz dont be harsh on me but, are you guys serious ??
2 handed pally ? OK lets say pally is a must have in a tank setup, lets say he ll follow the train, a shield would allow him to be the slammer, a shield would allow him to stay alive longer and so, providing endo more longer if targeted.
As a slammer he could be more versatile, allowing more mercs in grp, non slammers, he would allow armsman to stay more in polearm.
I mean, dont get mad at me, i m not saying not to play a 2 handed pally if u get fun.
I just try to understand.

Agreed, but just trying to answer his question with the 2h caveat. Mercs and Armsman in group should still have slam due to the CC effects on the paladin.

Exactly. And if you are going for frontline with the mercs you can guard them and save them from being slamed, snared. You will also be hitting guarded enemies with your slow weapon and If they have red pbt... well if you can land a hit every 10 sec, it can't be fun no matter how hard you hit.
