Hey guys, I am going to be rolling Minstrel on launch and I have been debating on the spec I am going to use for months. I'm going to do full autotrain 48 and will more than likely be doing stealth and group pvp equally. The specs I am conflicted between are:

50 Inst 30 slash 33 stealth - I feel like this spec has the best for group pvp and still viable for stealth as well.

45 Inst 35 stealth 35 slash - This spec is the best I could make with 35 stealth in mind. I am not sure if the weapon skill boost in damage would outweigh the 50 Insta DD but I will more than likely need to duo over solo with this build.

Also the reason I am not going thrust is because I think it sucks trying to land positional styles on a minstrel. A lot of people here seem to want to spec it but I don't care how good you are - you are going to miss styles when you're just trying to interrupt in 8v8.
If a Paladin uses endurance chant in 1.65, and no one is within 1000 yards to hear it, does it make a sound?

If you want damage then it's all about the DDs.
My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts.

if you are alone 50 inst is needed, if you got company having 50 stealth earlier is also very nice so setup2 would work.

since i am planing to run mostly solo i will go 50 inst for sure since i want max pet + dd.
AT until lvl40 so end will be 50inst, 33 stealth, 29 slash

not trying to advocate thrust specc (unless ur playing purely in grp) but how can you miss ur styles? since most of the time ur just spamming anytimer+follow

Yeah I think this is what I want to go for. I really want to try to hold out for the full 48 Autotrain for the extra extra point in slash but I may cave at 40 as well.

What thrust anytimer are your referring to? I like the thrust line but on a minst it seems useless when you just want to interrupt in groups. Also when out of endurance I figured slash would be superior vs shadowblades when just auto attacking.

What do you want 35 stealth for?

(With AT)
50 instru (last dd, nice pet charm!)
29-37 slash/thrust (go slash, it has Amethyst Slash style)
25-33 stealth
Uth1: Equade rr10 ranger, Fight rr7 sb, Sinwar rr6 thane
Genesis: Swift rr7 champ, Reaperinho rr6 vw, Sinwar rr5 eld
Uth2: NS, VW and Eld

Assuming full AT, I'm thinking 50 inst / 25 stealth / 37 slash

Correct me if I'm wrong but the difference between 25 and 33 stealth (50 inst. / 33 stealth / 29 slash for amy) won't be significant to hide any better from other stealth classes. I just want to be able to avoid the zerg and climb walls. I know the diff from 29 slash to 37 slash may not be a big boost in dmg but it sure wouldn't hurt and I see anything over 25 stealth to be kind of pointless.

Fellow mins' thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

as always it depends what you aim for. if you are just want to climb and run with pet you dont need.

but if you want to grp with other stealthers 25 to 33 makes a difference, it might be not huge but its there, other assassins see you just earlier/later.

this is the only reason minstrel is doing AT (unless grp setup thrust) so you can reach the 50 stealth with rr7 and not late with rr9 or at all.
if you dont care to get seen 300-500 range earlier you are good with 25 stealth. but if you run often with other stealthers these few points can be a pain in the arsch :)

also if archers have no camo up i want to see them when they see me, not after a crit shot.

dont know the difference 29 and 37 slash since i am not speccing anyway, going to test now. but i guess its not worth it anyway.
mostly i try not to use sword anyway because if i use i am already to close which is not good.
you never know if a nasty IP comes around :)

its beta get some buddy into ts on another realm an test it. 50 stealth vs 40

my 33 cent

edit: tested 37 sword on yellow mobs, its a nice increase. on players it will be less for sure but on mobs its about +20-30% more dam. nice to have but as said depends what you aim for. since respeccs will be hard to come by in the beginning i will go for my save specc which i know.

Having 50 stealth is pretty huge against visible characters. That, and you run a bit faster while stealthed. It's the difference between being able to get away WHILE stealthed, and being tracked down. Other stealthers will see you a long ways away, sure. But, not visis.
