Is there a way to macro your instrument to be tied into a spell? IE: Click Macro Run and have it do /equip Drum /cast Motivational Hymn.

Alternately if not...how do you guys usually twist?

Make sure you don't break any rules. Pressing a single button that does multiple things (equip, song, pause, equip2, song2, repeat) for example is in violation with the rules.

A easy, safe way to do this is set up your keybinds to be next to each other so you can "roll" your fingers one way or the other.
For example:
F = Equip Drum
G = Play Speed Song
C = Equip Lute
V = Cast Regen Song

You can then roll F,G let the song cast. Wait the appropriate amount of time to minimize how much twisting is required (you want them to overlap of course but not more than you need). Then move your finger down and roll C,V + wait and repeat. It takes some getting used to (mouse buttons are handy for this) but in the end it tends to be better than fully automated macros because besides being against the rules they will bite you when you fail to turn them off and they ruin what you're trying to do.

Edit: You can equip two instruments (2h and ranged) and use then use /keyboard to set the keys that equip them. You could also put them on your quickbar and press the # associated with them but then they take up room there. Unfortunately you will have to drag/drop the 3rd instrument in when needed. My suggestion is to always put the drum into the slot that does not get swapped when you drop a instrument onto your character. The drum will in effect be permanent and then (at least in RvR) you'll want the flute equipped in the other slot 95% of the time. Only when you're speeding away after a fight you might swap the lute over the flute and twist health regen and speed).

Thank you for the well thought out suggestions!

Ya, I wasn't asking for "cheating" tips...but I saw you could do a /macro assist /assist player1 and end up with a button that when pressed will assist player 1. I also googled where people was talking about doing this for instruments + songs but I couldn't get it to work so figured I was doing something wrong.

There's a google post where someone says you can /macro Run /equip drum /playsong hymn and it would create a button that when pressed would equip your drum and start the hymn. I just couldn't get it to work ingame and thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I guess it's not implemented here?
