Purge is 30min, 9s on DF seems to be the obvious choice. Though what if you want a bit of extra challenge while still being effective?

DF takes 50 points into thrust. Slash will let you keep around 36 into weapon while being able to go 50 in CS and with much higher DW.

Here are some specs I was looking at:

No AT assassin

36env/36stealth/36 slash/50cs/29DW

Full AT mercfiltrator

33env/36stealth/36slash/34CS/50DW (slash allows this to be viable in much earlier RRs)

Is it out of the question? What do you guys think?

it can work, still DF is very strong.
if you face a SB with S/C charge, you are screwed anyway :D

45str 45con is still a huge advantage. Stealth fights usually are a coin flip with same buffs. If the sb runs the charge he will most likely win because of that.

Because of the str/con buff scenario with SB's I would personally opt for DF. Its your trump card. It kinda forces all the sb's you fight to have that str/con charge up in order to have anything approaching even ground in the fight. Without DF you are kind of tossing away your advantage.

SBs will have to get that item to begin with; many of them won't have it. You on the other hand only have to spec to 50 thrust to get your advantage, its so much easier to obtain than the necklace for SB's. I think it would be a terrible waste for you to not take DF when its so easily accessible and will just flat out win you so many fights.

As a mid player I am extremely jealous of DF.

For dex/qui charges you need dragon ring as infil. Where do you get the neck for sbs?

Right, but in this version SLASH does Higher damage to Mid leather armor, and thrust does neutral damage.

Wasn't that how its always been? certain types, crush, slash, thrust does more damage to certain armor types from that realm. So its a circle of who has an advantage over the other assassins.

Going slash destroys SBs, but keep in mind ONLY SBs, you then arent as good at taking out NSs.
